I loved Wategos Beach and it is wonderful for swimming, surfing or a beach lunch. The surfers hang out here too, so there is usually a good number of people around. There is accomodation and restaurants if you wish to eat here, or even spend a few nights. The only reason for the 4 star review is because of the metered parking. After 9am, you pay to park here, and the spaces are limited, so you can struggle to find a park. The is no off street parking, so it's pay or you don't park. If heading up the steps to the lighthouse you will come across a new scrub turkey mound, so watch out for turkeys throwing leaves on you during...
Read moreI really like this beach. It's not very big, but it's beautiful. I love walking along the beach during low tide and seeing the rocks that appear. The available restrooms and BBQ area are very convenient. Parking can be challenging, so I recommend coming by bike. Another perk is the short distance to the lighthouse, making the beach even more appealing. Definitely one of my favorite beaches in Byron Bay! Be careful with your belongings when you go swimming. There are many turkeys that love to open bags...
