So glad I spotted this treasure. A very entertaining & thought-provoking exhibition that apparently changes very regularly (6 weekly?) - meriting repeated visits. Clean, well lit, friendly staff. I was told that a new expanded space plus cafe & theatre would be opening very soon. The ground floor is wheelchair accessible from car park although assistance might be needed to open the somewhat heavy door. There is a lift to the new upstairs space and accessible toilets available - although disappointingly, at least one also seems to be being partially used for storing surplus chairs and cleaning supplies (hopefully this will be remedied once new space opens). Exhibition mostly consisted of large print 1-2 frame cartoons that did not contain a lot of small print - so likely to be legible and appreciated while seated in...

Came here out of curiosity and was pleasantly surprised. $10 Adult entry. You watch a 3min video about the bunker itself and then set out on your own to explore the gallary which is 2 levels. There is stairs or a lift to go upstairs. Facinating collection of different types of art and photography currently on show. Some very funny cartoons and caricatures. Others bring light to some very serious world event. The photography exibit on the ground floor showcased some beautiful photos of nature at its best. There is also a library of comics and graphic novels to sit and read. The team were friendly and the bunker has been converted beautifully showing in some of the original features. Well worth the look in. Current exhibition will appeal more to...

I wish we could give a good review, because we were holidaying in the pouring rain and desperate for any entertainment. We were all very disappointed with the exhibit. Great location with an interesting history. So much potential for a neat gallery. Instead there was no coherence to the exhibit no context, no apparent curation. We have been to some lovely free galleries in our visit to Australia with excellent exhibitions. This honestly felt like a bunch of cartoons that were just random, unfunny, not historically relevant or really enjoyable in any way. If you are looking for a real gallery experience on a ancient and rich subject, skip this place. Or...

A genuine underground bunker from World War II has been converted into Australia’s only gallery dedicated solely cartoons. In an awesome, fully accessible space, this gallery has assembled a collection numbering more than 23,000 Australian cartoons. Some of the standouts include original illustrations or lithographs by the likes of Stan Cross, Percy Lindsay, Jim Russell, Monty Wedd, Mark Lynch and Emile Mercier. There are ever-changing exhibitions, movie nights, workshops, live performances and lots more on the timetable for people of all ages. You’ll also find out about the history of this unique building and its conversion into a gallery.

Very interesting, good choice done by the volunteers, laughed at many of comics that were displayed along the bunker walls. We were warmly welcomed by a man at the entrance who explained the use of the bunker during the war. 10$ fee per person, definitely worth it. We spent at least an hour. You can spend more as there are magazines chairs and bean bags if you want to sit down and read and a cafe upstairs. Perfect outing for a rainy day. Parking outside. We had a trailer, not many people so ok to park
