This is a MUST SEE if you're in the region. These gardens were featured on TV Better Homes and Gardens show recently (October 2024), and as we were holidaying in the area decided to visit. What a magnificent Botanical Garden. I couldn't believe we didn't know this place existed after visiting the area for years. A beautiful experience to wander through the variety of themed gardens, a greenhouse, and a beautiful Japanese Garden with bridge and pavilion - so serene. Well made sign posted paths (wheelchair ♿ friendly) and information boards. Plenty of seating, shade, green space, picnic spots and public facilities 🚻. Suitable for all ages and a rare thing - ✨FREE entry🌳🌴🌷✨ There are information brochures and a donation box at entry point which I didn't hesitate to drop a note 💵 in. I would encourage a donation to help sustain this nature treasure. The gardens are maintained by 180 volunteers and 1 paid worker - an incredible feat. I'll be back with a picnic 🧺 next visit.

What an amazing place. It’s tucked away down a side road but when you find it you will be amazed. There are so many walking paths to follow, open places for picnics and kids to run, lakes to sit quietly by and stunning palms and ferns as well as flowers. The main paths are all sealed which makes them easy to walk on and perfect for those who are disabled. The main trail is nice and flat but there also many off the side trails that require a bit more effort. The Japanese garden and lake was really beautiful…..there was a bit of work being done towards the back of the gardens and like most gardens there is always something being planted. We especially loved hearing and seeing the kookaburras …one in particular who was enjoying a bath in a small pond. Definitely well worth the visit.

Coffs Harbour’s subtropical botanic garden is bordered on three sides by the waters of Coffs Creek, and takes its place as the most beautiful in northern New South Wales. Covering more than 20 hectares you can step into rainforest, a Japanese garden, a sensory garden, natural forest and mangroves, an exotic collection of tropical plants and a prime display area condensing all of the garden into a one-hectare space. There are also five distinct glasshouses, for orchids, ferns, bromeliads and plants from arid climate zones. You can get to the North Coast Regional Botanic Garden within a few minutes on foot from the CBD, and there’s a busy events calendar culminating with the multicultural Harmony Day in March.

A beautiful green space right in the heart of Coffs Harbour. There are many tracks to follow through different parts of the garden. There are lovely green lawn areas for picnics or family gatherings. You can visit the Japanese ponds with many fish and turtles. Lots of diversity in the plants and trees. Also there is a large green house full of many ferns and other delicate plants. Unfortunately the cafe was closed (April 2024) and no sign of when it will reopen. I would definitely recommend a few hours exploring the Botanic Gardens.

The jewel of Coffs Harbour, the Botanic Gardens are perfect for a long wander. Not only are the grounds serenely beautiful, there's educational aspects with different habitats, regions and a large selection of very rare and endangered plant species. The walk through the mangroves along Coffs Creek in the late afternoon was lovely and the Japanese Friendship Gardens one of the better examples I have seen in Australia. I regret not spending more time here and make sure you leave more than an hour aside for a visit.

The Botanic Gardens in Coffs Harbour are the most beautiful gardens in northern News South Wales. Situated in the centre of the Coffs Harbour township the large gardens cover 20 hectares and are easily accessible from Harbour Drive – the main street – Turn into Hardacre Street before the Hogbin Drive roundabout - only 1 kilometre from central Coffs Habour. With wide walking paths, seating, cafe and shady rest areas the garden is a serene joyous display of plants and colour. No admission charges and ample parking.
