This is a MUST SEE if you're in the region. These gardens were featured on TV Better Homes and Gardens show recently (October 2024), and as we were holidaying in the area decided to visit. What a magnificent Botanical Garden. I couldn't believe we didn't know this place existed after visiting the area for years. A beautiful experience to wander through the variety of themed gardens, a greenhouse, and a beautiful Japanese Garden with bridge and pavilion - so serene. Well made sign posted paths (wheelchair ♿ friendly) and information boards. Plenty of seating, shade, green space, picnic spots and public facilities 🚻. Suitable for all ages and a rare thing - ✨FREE entry🌳🌴🌷✨ There are information brochures and a donation box at entry point which I didn't hesitate to drop a note 💵 in. I would encourage a donation to help sustain this nature treasure. The gardens are maintained by 180 volunteers and 1 paid worker - an incredible feat. I'll be back with a picnic 🧺 next visit.

What an amazing place. It’s tucked away down a side road but when you find it you will be amazed. There are so many walking paths to follow, open places for picnics and kids to run, lakes to sit quietly by and stunning palms and ferns as well as flowers. The main paths are all sealed which makes them easy to walk on and perfect for those who are disabled. The main trail is nice and flat but there also many off the side trails that require a bit more effort. The Japanese garden and lake was really beautiful…..there was a bit of work being done towards the back of the gardens and like most gardens there is always something being planted. We especially loved hearing and seeing the kookaburras …one in particular who was enjoying a bath in a small pond. Definitely well worth the visit.

If you are a nature lover you will bless me to recommend this beautiful place to spend the whole day with family and the entry is free. Wear proper walking shoes as the garden is huge, wear hat/cap and sunglasses. You are good to go. You can either spend whole day here or at least 3 to 4 hrs (half a day).

We visited in the first week of October (spring in Australia) but it was too sunny. We felt that we have come to the right spot because the lush green trees provided lot of shade. If we had been to any other place in the hot Sun it would have been difficult.

A large variety of plants, flowers and trees to admire, routes/paths to explore (I went back to my school days as it reminded me of a board game called fantasy forest that we used to play. I felt as if fantasy forest came to life).

Start in the morning at 9 am and cover the left half of the botanic garden. There are lot of benches all through the way if you want to rest in between.

Once you reach the glass house there are loads of grassy and shady spots for picnic lunch. Spread your picnic mat, have lunch, read books, listen to music, play some games and relax.

There is one toilet in the front when you enter the garden and the other one is at the back near the glass house or to be precise in the South America zone. Check the botanic garden map to locate it. Map available near the garden entrance. Toilets need more maintenance but it is still in usable condition.

After good rest continue further to see the Japanese lake and the Japanese pavilion is also a good spot to have lunch because there are picnic benches if you don’t want to carry picnic mats. Further on explore the right side of the garden starting from back to front. The gate is...

Bring here is a great experience walking around seeing all the plants and large trees with a lot of species existing, with a lot of different sizes and shapes. It also has lots of sections to explore and even a lake based on Japan known as the Friendship Garden with that duckweed on the lake that looks as if you can run on it. It also rained quite a bit at our stay, and luckily, we were at the Japanese lake and got under cover. There is a small problem though, with the rain and how wet it gets is that you might see a leech or two get on you. Although this is rather bad, it doesn’t ruin the experience too much if you can deal with it. Once you finish your walk there, you can go back to maybe get a snack to relax or buy something nice at the shop which includes a few paintings, some face masks and more. I would recommend visiting again, although I recommend going with some covered shoes and pants in rather rainy weather as a leech might jump on you, although it’s not TOO much harm. Just a bit scary but you can get them off within...
