Suban Thai Restaurant — Restaurant in New South Wales

We were driving through town on a rainy Sunday night headed north and had seen good reviews for this restaurant. Mrs Google(Google maps) easily led us to the restaurant. When we arrived the restaurant was getting busy with seated guests and an increasing stream of people coming to pickup takeaway orders. The kitchen is open(always a good thing for me) so I could see that it was clean and food is stored properly. The front of house staff were friendly and seated us immediately. After ordering it didn't seem to be long day all until our good arrived. My wife and I ordered Pad See Ew with tofu and the Massaman Lamb Shank. Very disappointed with my experience here. We ordered three dishes all of which were way too sweet. Being as hungry as we were we ate 2 of the dishes but the third, the sweet and sour, we just couldn't eat. I tried the sauce and a piece of chicken but it did not taste good at all. While I am not generally the kind of person to complain, when we were paying I told them my concern and asked if it was possible for that dish to be taken off the bill. Instead I was treated to laughter from the manager. I appreciate the irony of sweet and sour being too sweet but didn't want to argue as it was clear they didn't care. Bad service and bad food. Just left this restaurant after having dinner on our way to sydney from brisbane. Even though we were first impressed by very positive reviews, it was empty when we went in. We were annoyed by the rude waitress who asked the four of us to move from a table of four to a table of six saying "five of you won't fit into this table". My sons got very confused...perhaps, she thought we either couldn't count the number of chairs or didn't know how many were in our family. No one attempted apologising.
