I rarely leave reviews. I couldn't leave Southern Wilds without leaving one.
Gin is my preferred alcohol. I do my best to try various gins on my travels and this place takes the cake.
I rarely go to a gin distillery and find a gin to be "bad", but at the same time I rarely find one that blows my mind. I did the full 8 gin tasting paddle here and at least half of them immediately became all time favorites.
Close your eyes and take a big whiff of the Meadow Gin before you take a sip and you'll feel like you are in the middle of a lavender farm. The Whisky Barrel gin is the perfect mix of the warmth you get from whisky and the crispness that you get from gin that I wanted to cuddle up next to a fire. The sloe gin...I don't even know how to describe this. This is one of the best alcohols I have ever tasted. The raspberry gin is a perfect gin for those that don't traditionally like gin, you won't even realise it is gin. And then to top it off if you like coffee their liqueur is something you'll want to sneak into your morning routine.
Genuinely fantastic gin. Even if you don't traditionally like gin, I would recommend Southern Winds because it will probably...

Weād made this detour based on the fact that Southern Wild Distillery was open- itās reviews left little to the imagination. We walked to the front, excited to refuel our travel weary bodies with some local Tasmanian gin. Yet we were only met with complete and utter disappointment. āClosedā. Now I understand that a business cannot be open 24/7. But to advertise on google and their website, and even the front door next to the closed sign that they were open from 12-6, I was lost for words. I wish I could comment on the quality of the gin, yet I was unable as to get as far. Given this gut wrenching experience, Iāll not be attempting to venture back. Iād recommend...

Love the layout and decor in this place. It's got an upmarket feel and a great setup
Service was very good
We shared a gin tasting board which came with different styles of gin all complete with tonic water and garnishes.
Nice presentation and a great way to experience gin
The only downsides were the music which didn't really suit the upmarket ambience. I think some cool jazz rather than the over loud pop rock would suit the atmos better.
Also the young guy serving us kept throwing empty bottles in the bin. The crashing sound was jarring, more suited to a sports bar than a classy gin distillery.
Regardless I'd recommend the place. Well...
