Twenty years ago this was a wonderful period piece, but sadly the shire has modernised it to the point its no longer really heritage. The wharfside restaurant is no longer, the shire demolished it.
Barely anything in the historic precinct is historic anymore... modernisation with a hint of the old days.
The nearby pubs are all modern and some "interesting" 21st century designs are springing up in a once heritage listed area.
if you go.. spend a couple of days, but go on the paddlesteamers.. they are wonderful.
Echuca is home to the worlds largest paddlesteamer fleet. The Port owns many, and there are a lot in private hands.
The boats to ride on are The Pevensey and The Alexander Arbuthnot, as these were built from the keel up in the paddlesteamer heyday.
Many others were barges, rebuilt 30 years ago into a paddlesteamer, but they too have an amazing history.

The cute little shops that surround the wharf are a compliment, with the paddlesteamers you can take a leisurely hour to enjoy the river on a cruise.
