I had the absolute pleasure of visiting Ambleside Distillers recently, and I must say, I couldn't be more delighted with the experience. Gin had never been my drink of choice, and my last encounter with it was over two decades ago. However, after experiencing their gin flight, I can wholeheartedly say that Ambleside Distillers has completely won me over, especially with their No. 8 and Small Acre varieties.
The moment we walked into Ambleside, I was struck by the vibrant atmosphere. Our group was quite large, and the staff had set the table for us perfectly. It was evident that they paid great attention to detail, making our visit even more enjoyable.
The highlight of the visit, of course, was the gin flight. The No. 8 and Small Acre gins were nothing short of exceptional to me. The flavors were complex and beautifully balanced, and I was pleasantly surprised to find myself not only enjoying the taste but also appreciating the craftsmanship that went into creating these spirits.
Throughout our visit, the staff members were attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. They were happy to answer our questions and share their expertise, adding a layer of depth to the experience.
And speaking of adding layers, if you're a fan of Martini cocktails and like it "dirty," you absolutely must try the "Charlie Sheen dirty" twist – it's a memorable and unique touch that adds some extra fun to your evening.
All in all, my visit to Ambleside Distillers was a delightful and memorable experience. It completely changed my perception of gin, and I left with a newfound appreciation for this spirit, thanks to the outstanding No. 8 and Small Acre varieties. If you're in the area or even remotely interested in gin, I highly recommend making a visit to Ambleside Distillers. You won't be disappointed, and you might just discover a new favorite drink, as I did. Cheers to Ambleside and their team for making our...
Read moreI attended the Kim Churchill concert on the lawns here recently and had such a lovely time. After a tough day at work, the ballads of Kim Churchill and Trav Collins were the right panacea definitely. The ambience, the view, the music all made for a really enjoyable evening. We had a rug, but warm ones were passed around later as the temperature dropped. I had a dry gin and tonic with jalapeño and Comida (Hahndorf) were there making Paella - both versions of Original and Vegetarian. What more could you want? The Paella had all the crunchy, crisp bits that apparently make the dish and I must say I enjoyed both versions because we had both, but preferred the OG of chorizo and chicken just because that’s an unbeatable combination, with the spiciness of the chorizo in the mix! Both plugged and unplugged, Kim Churchill sang and entertained; regaling the audience with lessons he’d learned on his musical adventures. Switching effortlessly from ballads of narrative to a vintage Led Zeppelin, I didn’t recognise, but not an aficionado, Kim played guitar with verve, adding harmonica from time to time. Many people got up for the Led Zeppelin and many people wanted to meet the musician face to face in conversation mode, which he’d encouraged earlier. I bought a tea towel because you can never have too many tea towels! I will return gladly to any concerts they hold at Ambleside- for the atmosphere, the view, the music, the gin and the all round vibe. It was indeed a great, well organised night. Much enjoyed by my group, but by all as far as...
Read moreWe had a booking yesterday afternoon for six adults for the gin flights, we also had four children with us but were unable to add them online and no answer when we called on several occasions! We arrived very excited to be greeted by the rudest person we have ever encountered, the lady (Sasha) embarrassed us by very loudly demonstrating that she was extremely unhappy that we had children with us and said “it was less than an ideal situation” even though we explained that we had tried our hardest to let them know, she said “as long as the children don’t impact on other customers and that they don’t run a muck” also trying to seat us outside in the freezing cold with no heating!!! Not to mention that we were there for our friends Birthday and this was our first visit! We were allowed eventually to be sat at our table inside and our children behaved beautifully as we knew they would. To discover that this woman (Sasha) is the manager is disgraceful, she needs retraining and taken off from meeting and greeting customers!!!! Full compliments to every other member of staff who were polite, warm and knowledgeable. We would rate Ambleside 5 stars if it wasn’t...
