such a lovely place for us tasting wine and cheese, very delighted experience we have, all staffs are friendly, helpful and smiling haaa, it makes the whole experience even delighting yayaya, also Hahndorf Hill winery is pretty beautiful wine planting garden, having a mass of greenland, but sadly we come here in wintertime><so you can’t see the grapes on the land but just the plant we order a glass of Green Angel Late Harvest Gruner Veltliner, recommended by a lady, and this one didn’t dissapoint us haa, instead surprising us in very good way, it tastes sweet but more than sweetness the flavor is complex, after we trying a glass and we buy a bottle, seriously quite attractive and perfect one for us for its sweetness as a non-wine fans haaa cheese platter including four cheese, blue cheese, cheddar cheese, goose cheese and one mixed flavoring cheese, blue cheese is coming with the sweet ginger, and you will get some almonds on sides, enjoyed the cheese platter so much with Green angel haaa The Hahndorf Hill Green Angel Grüner Veltliner Late Harvest 2021, described by the judges as 'delicious', won three trophies, including Best White Wine of Show and the competition's top honour, Wine of Show This deliciously delicate late-harvest wine gets its name from the Austrian word 'Gruner' which means green. The grapes for this wine are allowed a very extended period of ripening, during which the berries shrivel and thereby concentrate the flavour, the sugar and the natural acidity. Since the climatic conditions required to achieve this are quite specific, this wine will only be made in exceptional years. The juice is fermented till the desired alcohol level is achieved, leaving a residual amount of sugar in the wine. This residual sweetness is kept in balance by a high natural acidity. The rich yet delicate nose is layered with spice, lemon zest, poached pear and meringue. The palate is unctuous yet lively with fresh citrus, delicate poached fruits, white pepper and a lively long tail. Perfectly matched to your favourite dessert, all chocolate and a runny, ripe brie cheese! This wine will age and develop well for 30 - 40 years. so much fun today in the wine tasting and with many beautiful photos haaa, as first wine tasting in a winery, it’s such a great experience yaya, to be memorized haaa Hahndorf Hill Winery rating of mine: 5**

This winery was the first stop on our tour and set the bar extremely high. My parents and I joined a tour where we could pick our own stops and we were all so pleased we chose Hanhdorf Hill. Vishal was passionate and knowledgeable and looked after us fabulously. We bought most of our wine from here and had the pleasure of watching a little of the grapes being harvested before Vishal very kindly brought us in some grapes to try with the matching wine. We paired our wine flights with a cheese platter which was just the right size to leave room for more wine! Do not pass this place up! The views are gorgeous and the wine even better.

Absolutely phenomenal experience overall. Lucky enough to get a seat without booking prior. Awesome selection of wines featuring more obscure grape varieties with staff knowledge and service going absolutely above and beyond- the passion for ensuring their customers leave with a memorable experience made for an extraordinarily comfortable time approaching the relativity daunting world of wine. Really enjoying hearing about the history of the wines and discussing what goes into the wines that contribute to your preferred palate. Definitely looking forward to coming back here again next time we visit South Australia.

Fabulous wine tasting and Choco Vino experience!

My husband and I made a booking for Easter Sunday. We’d read about their ChocoVino experience, so we simply HAD to try it for ourselves. Larry, one of the owners of Hahndorf Hill winery, warmly welcomed us as we entered the tasting room. We were quickly seated at our table with a lovely view over the vineyard. After perusing the menu of ChocoVino experiences, we opted for the full tasting. And we were not disappointed! Dee (pictured on the home page of their website) walked us through the way we should appreciate the chocolate and wine pairings that were placed before us. Our first course was presented in a wooden ‘treasure chest’ of sorts. Opening it revealed a roasted cocoa bean, palate cleansing apple slices and two Australian produced milk chocolates, from Haighs and Daintree Estates respectively. Oh and not to forget an absolutely superb bottle of mineral water from Cape Grim in Tasmania. Also designed to be a palate cleanser, Dee regaled us with their story, of being home to the cleanest air and water on earth. I have to admit I don’t think I’ve ever taken the time to really taste chocolate. Following the instructions provided, it was quite amazing to observe the subtle flavour differences between even each of the single roasted cocoa beans we’d been given. And then to move onto the Haighs and Daintree milk chocolates, there was as big difference between them too! For our next course, dark chocolates were paired with two of their wines. Breaking with the rules you’d expect re chocolate and wine, one was paired with their unique white wine varietal Gruner Veltliner. The other was paired with their single origin Shiraz. We followed their tasting instruction of first trying the chocolate, then the wine… cleansing your palate and trying the wine then the chocolate, and thirdly trying the two almost together. We were amazed at how well their Gruner Veltliner went with the dark chocolate, truly did not expect the matching to work so beautifully on the palate! And it goes without saying that the Shiraz was also gorgeous with the chocolates chosen to match too. They encouraged us to take our time, and we spent a wonderful hour just savouring the whole experience! We will be...

I've been visiting Hahndorf Hill for many years now and it is my all time favourite winery. I have NEVER had a bad glass of wine there. Every one of their wines is an absolute classic interpretation of its style. I've been to other wineries and tried the pinot gris, or the sav blanc, or the riesling and been hard pressed to pick the intended style between the samples, as too often they were too much alike. Not so at Hahndorf Hill Wines where the wines are exquisitely crafted and true to type. The Gruner Veltliner is exceptional in that it is classified as the most food friendly wine in the world and HH does a cracking job of presenting their Gruner Veltliner. Their Shiraz Vault is a stunning gift for the wine connoisseur who has everything. I especially like their approach to the growing of their vines, with biodynamic practices. Larry is an outstanding host and if he is not there, you will still receive an outstanding experience in wine tasting from Dee or the other highly knowledgeable staff of HH wines. A jewel in the crown of the Adelaide Hills Wine Region and thoroughly...
