Visited back in about mid-March, and left impressed. Seeing that I had some friends from Melbourne visiting over the weekend… I made it a point to take them there as our first stop before touring around some Adelaide Hills wineries.
The overall experience we had on the weekend was a huge letdown considering I had called a week ahead to notify staff and kitchen. They said they’ll make sure our 11.30am arrival for lunch was fine. I was reassured over the phone the kitchen would be fine to accomodate us for that seating time. When we arrived, we were told there would be slight waits for the menu changeover from breakfast to lunch - which is why I called to begin with?
One of the servers was extremely pushy and made multiple attempts for us to order an alcoholic beverage despite us telling him nobody was drinking as none of us had eaten. We found this super disrespectful considering our friend who was driving us for the day, doesn’t even drink and he chose to leave the drinks menu with him “incase we change our mind”.
The paella that we received was dry both visually and physically, to which the waitress confirmed that it was yesterday’s leftovers reheated. Extremely disappointing considering we were sitting there watching 2 big batches get freshly cooked in front of us. Surely we could’ve received the fresh batch with the week’s notice of our early arrival?
One of my friends also wanted some fries off the kids menu (which wasn’t an issue at our last visit) - to which the waiter mocked and never actually put through the order. He also was very pushy for us to order certain things off the menu, despite us stating that a few of us were sharing between 2 because of dietaries and he kept insisting that he would “make it work” with what we had ordered. Perplexing.
An overall uncomfortable and disappointing experience, can’t say we will be back anytime soon.

Read moreI have called and booked my daughter’s birthday for 02nd of January in Comida in mid December. Apparently they have decided later on in December that they want to close the restaurant on that day. so I went there on the 02nd if Jan and it looked like that the restaurant was closed. There was a tall guy with beard working in the kitchen. I asked him about our table and he told oh sorry we are closed now and we will be open tonight. I told him I have had a booking and he told me my boss has called everyone and told them about this and I said no one called me. He told me sorry I don’t work in booking and I don’t know anything else and he had this face that I don’t really care. I came out and I was shocked as my guests were coming so my mom told me to asked them if we can still have a table as we did not receive any calls or voice mails or anything. So I went back inside and I did so. There were three guys in the kitchen now. The same rude got back to me and no it is not possible and I told you we are closed. And then I said how come nobody called me about this. He said we have a nice boss and he wanted us to spend more time with our families. I said I have worked 31st of December, 02 of Jan is not a special day to be with the family. Suddenly he snapped and yelled at I told you we can’t just go. I was shocked how come a rude lazy person with zero people skill and motivation can work in hospitality while others losing their job in COVID situation. Anyway we ended up in German inn which was open and their hard worker, friendly staff helped us have had a good time. Bottom line myself, our family and friends will not come back to...
Read moreUnfortunately I was disappointed after hearing good things. We were sat on the last table at the back which meant it was right across from and in view of the bathroom. Staff and customers using the bathroom never closed the door after using! Partner said could smell bathroom odours. He had full view and i had the reflection from glass windows. After this I found it odd that my glass of wine was filled at the table especially with an almost finished bottle which meant the waitress had to leave and come back with a new bottle to top it up. In the meantime I was left there thinking is that all I'm getting? Because I wasn't told she's be back with more. They had sold out of the paella de comida which was what we drove there for and we settled for the vegetarian paella. We were offered a complimentary tapas dish because of this which was nice and on arrival was one small bruschetta type thing with prosciutto. We cut this in half for each of us. Was a bit overpriced for the size if I had to pay for it. My main disappointment lies with the vegetarian paella. I'm not sure what happened but this was plain bland. I got no artichoke in mine and it was just rice stir fried in oil coating with bits of vegetables. I honestly didn't get the paprika/ saffron vibe or any salt to give some flavour or any broth which is traditionally the foundations of paella. It did have the bits of crunch every now and then but what happened here? I've had better outcomes making it at home. It just wasn't tasty for my expectations of a specialised Spanish restaurant....
