I loved the artwork so impressive and the information boards were fantastic. Hay water tower art depicts some of the towns World War 2 heroes and it captures the soul and heritage of Hay.
HISTORY In World War 1 no other town in Australia embraced the battle with quite the same fevour 641 men enlisted with 103 men not returning home. Nearly every eligible male from Hay went to the Great War. In World War 2, 300 men enlisted and women enlisted in the Australian Army Nursing service. 50 men did not return. It was reported in The Riverine Grazier on 28th May 1940 "We are sure no district in Australia is more loyal than this district. That was amply demonstrated in the South African war, the war 1914-18 and is again being demonstrated now".
