The new management are a joke. Like some of the other reviews here I have witnessed the unprofessionalism of a particular person who wears glasses that claims to be the manager of the social sports competitions. Not jumping to any conclusions but the poor attitude and demeaning behaviour I was witness to was aimed at a person of colour as per other recent reviews...
In addition to that, one of the first things the new management did when they took over was change the social basketball competition finals fixtures to a week earlier, just over a week before the finals! For our team in particular we were scheduled to have a bye that week so some of our team had made other plans and ended up missing our first final. We were not even notified of the change and only noticed it on the fixtures app a few days before the game. No apology offered either. Extremely unprofessional.
Another thing is the state of the courts. One of the courts we played on a few weeks ago was so slippery it was almost dangerous to be playing on it. They only have 1 working clock across 3 courts and the scoreboards are hit and miss, sometimes they work sometimes they don't. Every winter there are water leaks from the roof onto the courts (can't blame the new management for this as it's been like that for years) but again it is dangerous to play there when it's raining.
Many of the old referees who were good are gone now since the new management came in and have been replaced by children. It's really not fair on them, they don't have the experience and perhaps even the qualifications to be refereeing competitive mens social basketball. An ability to communicate with the players and diffuse situations when tensions are running high is needed which these kids just don't have yet unfortunately. From comments I have heard my understanding is they don't want to pay adult rates for referees so have hired these kids to save money.
They also make you pay a non-refundable deposit to nominate a team now. A classic tactic used to lock people in while they continue to offer a substandard product and experience. Well loftus, you can keep the deposit because I won't be...
Read moreI usually don't leave reviews, but I had such a bad experience with the girl at the front desk she had brown hair and she wore thick glasses. We already had memberships and had been given keycards, but when we went in, she stopped us and took them away, saying 13-year-olds aren't allowed to have them. If that's actually the rule, fine — but the way she handled it was unnecessarily rude. She made a huge scene, telling us to "stop right there" and acting like we were doing something terrible, when we were just walking in normally. She started making comments about us "giggling during a serious conversation," which wasn't true at all, and then claimed she had "already told us multiple times" — even though l've never spoken to her before in my life. It felt like she was just making things up on the spot. There's a big difference between calmly explaining a policy and speaking down to people, and unfortunately she chose the second option. It was unprofessional, uncomfortable, and honestly pretty embarrassing. Loftus deserves better front desk staff than someone who makes paying members feel like they've done something wrong just by showing up. The only reason i’m leaving even 1 star is because i can’t...
Read moreUnfortunately, our experience at this venue was significantly soured by the conduct of an employee named Chaia. When we arrived early in the morning to begin setting up our stalls, we were left waiting, only to discover she was sitting at the front desk doing her makeup instead of assisting vendors. While we understand early starts can be difficult, professionalism is still expected when people are relying on you. Later in the afternoon around 1pm, I approached her with a simple question and was met with a dismissive attitude. She claimed she was no longer on shift, yet was still at the desk three hours later when I left at 4pm. This inconsistency raises serious questions about her role and responsibilities, and frankly, her attitude was not only unhelpful but openly rude. I was not alone in feeling this way; several vendors shared similar concerns. It was disheartening to deal with someone who seemed to actively resent our presence rather than support the smooth running of the event. We sincerely hope Fashion Thrift considers using a different venue moving forward, one where professionalism, courtesy, and basic respect for vendors are...
