I stayed at the Oakwood Premiere Melbourne from Wednesday 29th January to Monday 3rd, and whilst I'd would love to give this hotel a 5-star rating, I really just cannot. My experience was mixed with positives but mostly negatives.

The positives were the following:

  1. The staff were so friendly, respectful, and kind during my stay at the hotel and were always smiling and greeting people. This is an important aspect of customer service that every organization and place should have for staff to always have a smile on their face and be very open to guests.
  2. I stayed in Room 2204 initially and then in Room 2910 for my final night, and I will explain why in the negatives section. The showers were wonderful and at a nice temperature, and the other items, such as the shampoo and conditioner, were amazing. The hair dryer was so handy. Showers were also great with the handwash, which smelt so nice :)

However, the negatives were the following:

  1. The room that I had for the first 4 days—Room 2204—was not a nice experience. Air conditioning failed on my final night of my stay, which made it so hot on a 39-degree day, and the dishwasher didn't work at all. I didn't want to make a fuss over calling the hotel staff to get fixed, so I just handwashed all the plates and dishes with dishwashing liquid. However, if there is a service dishwasher there, then it needs to work 24/7, so I would suggest your staff does an audit of every room to make sure that every piece of equipment is working. You could find yourself in hot water with Occupational Health and Safety if cables are out of date. However, I want to thank the staff for moving me out of Room 2204 on my final night to make me go up to Room 2910. I can tell you it was much cooler and better :) I wish you had me stay there for the full 5 nights because it was much better room :)
  2. In Room 2204, the toilets were not functioning properly, and there was no toilet plunger in the room to clean the bottom of the toilet. The toilet in that room was awful and would not flush properly. I had to clean it myself, which is not acceptable with paper towels. I know you could request a cleaning service, which I did on one of the nights, but they shouldn't have to come every day to clean toilets up. There should be at least toilet plungers in every room of the hotel, and this was not the case even in the room for my final night in 2910.
  3. Lack of cooking pans and covers on pans made it difficult to cook items such as pasta sauce to heat it up. There should have been pans with covers on them because you would know when you heat pasta without a cover on the pan—it will go everywhere, so I had to use a pan on top of the existing one so that the sauce wouldn't go spraying all over the kitchen bench.
  4. No kitchen towels or scissors were available in those 2 rooms that I stayed in. I had to buy some cheap ones from Coles in order for me to dry and wash dishes. This is not acceptable and should be provided in your hotel as a 5-star hotel. Scissors would have been handy because I need to cut packets of peas and other items. There were also no napkins provided, so I had to get cheap ones from Coles as well. As a 5-star hotel, you should be providing this.
  5. No help was given to me to move my stuff from 2204 to 2910, so I wasted 20 minutes of my time transporting my stuff and items of my food from Level 22 to Level 29. Your customer service here was really not good.
  6. When arriving in Room 2910, I wanted to watch television with YouTube and Netflix and wanted to chromecast from my phone. The chromecast did not work because IT support and your systems didn't talk to each other in regards to transferring my details across to room 2910. The manager was very kind in trying to get this fixed for me at around 8.30pm to 9.00pm. Thank you to the manager for her kindness, and she gave me a complimentary bottle of free wine as a gift, which was nice of her. I am sorry, though I won't be returning as my experience wasn't all that good. I hope you can...

From the moment I arrived at Oakwood Premier Melbourne, I knew I was in for something special. Perfectly located in vibrant Southbank, this 5-star gem redefines city stays by seamlessly blending the luxury of a high-end hotel with the comfort and functionality of a fully equipped apartment.||||I stayed in a beautiful studio apartment on the 37th floor of the 40-storey tower, and the views alone were worth the trip !Panoramic 360° scenes stretching from the sparkling city skyline to Port Phillip Bay, with the Yarra River winding gently below. Waking up to that kind of peaceful, elevated beauty each morning was an experience in itself.||||One of the true highlights of my stay was dinner at Strato, the spectacular rooftop restaurant and bar perched at the very top of the tower. The evening was absolutely magical. From the refined atmosphere and impeccable service to the culinary creativity on every plate. But what truly takes it to the next level is the view: this is hands down one of the most breathtaking dining experiences you can have in Melbourne. Watching the city light up at sunset, 40 floors above it all, made for an unforgettable night that perfectly captured the essence of the Oakwood experience elevated, elegant, and unique.||||The apartment itself was a perfect mix of elegance and practicality: spacious, spotless, and filled with smart touches. From in-room tech and a luxurious rainfall shower to a plush bed, washer/dryer, dishwasher, and a sleek, modern kitchenette. Whether you're staying for a few nights or a few weeks, it truly has everything a modern traveler could ask for. Effortless comfort with a stylish twist.||||Breakfast at Fifth Restaurant was another highlight. The light-filled space, contemporary design, and seasonal Australian-Pacific menu created the perfect start to each day. From flaky pastries and vibrant fruit platters to a made-to-order omelette station and great coffee (with alternative milks and GF options), it felt curated and intentional, not just another hotel breakfast.||I also enjoyed relaxing at the Lobby Bar in the evenings . A chic spot with a laid-back vibe, great cocktails and tasty dishes. It’s one of those places where you can truly unwind and soak in the atmosphere.||||Beyond the rooms and dining, Oakwood offers a wide array of thoughtful amenities. A well-equipped gym with breathtaking views, Games Room, Residents’ Lounge, and multiple outdoor terraces with jaw-dropping views. The co-working space was a nice surprise too ! Ideal for anyone mixing business with pleasure. Plus, their meeting rooms and ballroom make it a solid option for events or corporate stays.||||What really elevated the whole experience, though, was the staff. From check-in to check-out, everyone I encountered was professional, warm, and genuinely invested in making my stay enjoyable. It’s rare to feel so well taken care of in such a modern, large-scale property. But they absolutely nailed it.||||The location couldn’t be better ! Tucked away just enough for peace and quiet, but still within walking distance of the CBD, South Melbourne Market, DFO South Wharf, and the scenic Yarra River promenade. And with stunning ocean views. Whether you're here for work, leisure, or a little bit of both (like I was), Oakwood is a perfectly placed home base to explore the best of Melbourne.||||In short ? This is more than just a Hotel ! it's a lifestyle experience. Sophisticated, comfortable, convenient, and impeccably run. Between the stunning apartment, world-class amenities, and the magic of dining at Strato, this was a stay I won’t soon forget. ||||I’ll definitely be returning on my next visit to Melbourne, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for that rare balance of luxury...
