DO NOT TRUST WITH YOUR WEDDING - The most disappointing wedding planning experience, that I wouldn't wish on anyone.

Our wedding experience was a nightmare from the moment we signed the contract. Communication was appalling, our planner ghosting us for 6-8 weeks at a time, ignored urgent emails, and left us scrambling to plan our Melbourne wedding from interstate (thousands of additional dollars we personally incurred due to this inconvenience).

It took three months of constant emails (where many went unanswered) to lock in a tasting date, which ended up being a month before the wedding. The tasting itself was disappointing to say the least. The food was inedible, meat was incredibly dry and salad leaves looked extremely sad. Despite initially trying to charge us for this “complimentary” disaster, they only comped it after we escalated. We were honestly embarrassed at the thought of serving this to our dearest family and friends.

The planner was extremely sales focused, they were constantly pressuring us to upgrade an additional $7,000 drinks package - saying this would be our only option, even after we reiterated many times that only half of our guests would be consuming alcohol. After many stressful phone calls, they later honoured the BYO option which they offered at the initial discussion.

A month out from the wedding, we felt stuck and dreadful for this contract we couldn’t get out of. And a wedding we weren’t confident in having. I honestly felt so embarrassed and woke up every day dreading this fast approaching wedding.

A month out from the wedding, we requested a different planner, who came recommended to us (she was decent, but too late to fix the damages). This experience was incredibly stressful, switching hands of three planners who we didn't have a relationship or trust with across such short periods prior to the wedding.

Showtime treated our wedding like a sales quota—impersonal, careless, and exploitative. The venue is beautiful, but it's not worth the stress, deception, and heartbreak. I wouldn’t wish this experience...

We recently hosted our wedding at State Library Victoria, produced by Showtime, and were initially impressed by the venue and Yas' attentive service. However, several significant issues arose that marred our guests' experience.

One of the most disappointing aspects was the unexpected substitution of eggplant for lobster in the 8-course banquet served to our pregnant guests. Despite paying the full price, we believe this was unfair and a significant disappointment. Following up after the wedding, we were informed that the substitution was due to dietary concerns and that the option of lobster would have been provided if requested. While we understand the need for dietary accommodations, the lack of clear communication and proactive measures to ensure guest satisfaction were disappointing.

Additionally, there were communication lapses regarding late-arriving guests and the wishing well setup. Some guests were not served due to an unfamiliar crossed-cutlery policy, and the wishing well table and decorations were not ready until just before guests arrived, despite being discussed weeks in advance.

Furthermore, some of our guests reported that certain waiters and waitresses seemed undertrained. For example, they were asked to pay for alcoholic beverages, even though we had pre-paid for all drinks. This created unnecessary confusion and embarrassment.

While the venue and Yas' service were commendable, the communication issues and service shortcomings significantly impacted our wedding day. We would recommend Showtime with reservations, especially considering the premium price point. Future couples should conduct thorough research and due diligence before booking...
