Beware of the owner (bald head indian man at first impression, just trying to describe you as we had no idea how else to describe you without knowing your name). If you were offended by that, then we apologise. However, we found you rude and you spoke like you were flustered.
The restaurant is not even nicely setup. I was surprised to see how small and congested, almost felt like an alleyway. Definitely NOT kid friendly.
The owner claimed to be so damn busy like he's running a large commercial restaurant/kitchen but, our group saw only 10 small tables and it extends to sitting outside mainly.
KEY NOTE: The restaurant is dodgy, they don't have a business phone number (he said it is a waste of time to answer calls, repeatedly he said that... and this is NOT how you talk to customers no matter how "challenging" the situation might have been). We were polite to you but you were talking like you were annoyed. Not to mention, they take your credit card details and the only cancellation was to send them an email/message. If he is so "busy" he still has time to check those messages and cancel in time? So be warn when you are about to book because you cannot cancel unless you go to the restaurant physically. That is a red flag. You need to consider there are times when people have valid reasons to call in advance to cancel, as there could be an emergency.
They take credit card details like they are running a fine dining place when it's a very small restaurant. Then charge at high price for the food. What a joke!
The only positive thing are their waiters, they are well mannered. If only the owner had good manners towards their customers, then perhaps I would not need to write this.
You can obviously see how hardcore he is being defensive with every single negative review. Why would I lie about our experience at your establishment? You need to be open to expect in receiving bad reviews sometimes. He actually has time to write such a long comment.
Stop buying pity votes and reviews. I am definitely not racist as I am a European migrant myself, I have mixed raced friends so stop trying to assume one is racist.
Every customer has the right to voice their opinions after encountering their own experience. Perhaps, others have good experience at the establishment, good for them. The sudden influx of 5 star reviews were obviously all from locals and people he knew well. It is...
Read moreNow I don't write public reviews often, however I feel Chachi is worth the ten minutes out of my time to do this. The food is some of the best, if not tied for the best I've had in the Yarra Valley. The Calzone I had was cooked to order and it was amazing. Even thinking back on anything to critique the food on, I'm stumped for words - the depth of flavour in the Ragu was perfect, everything was hot, and it was presented well!
My uncle, who came with me, really enjoyed his food too, and I don't often see him eat everything, but he smashed it all down. Not often does he remark on the restaurants or cafes we visit together, but in the time since going there he has:
Speaking of the coffee, it was the best coffee I've had in Healesville - granted, I haven't visited everywhere in Healesville, but the bar has been set quite high.
I believe that's in part to the bean, but also the the skill and care in making the drinks from the guy(s) making the coffee. In general you could tell the staff there were good at what they did and some really nice people, the friendly attitude and atmosphere they have fostered there meant any and all anxiety I normally feel when going out to eat was completely missing. I do feel the need to shout out one in particular, the lady with the awesome eyeliner we had serving us.
The small venue itself was cozy and comfortable, although a bit of a tight squeeze - I think that's the only issue I had, that at first before I got used to it, I felt a little claustrophobic. That went away as soon as we received our menus however, and very much stayed away. They've done an amazing job to decorate what little space they have. Those chefs must be absolute magicians to be able to cook what they do with what little...

Quality vs. price point is excellent. Quality is high. Price point is good - high quality for a nice price.
Our first visit on 1 October was for dinner and we arrived just before closing time. We weren't aware of this and the staff made no indication; instead they welcomed us, gave us a table and waited for us to decide what we would like for dinner. The staff were excellent; they were patient and did not even give any indication during our meal that we were there after closing. They did not rush us and were very friendly.
Our second visit was on 13 November, was for lunch. One staff member was the same as our visit on 1 October and she remembered us. The staff were just as excellent and friendly.
On both occasions the food was amazing! I'm not one for seafood dishes and after tasting my partner's seafood dish on 1 October, I knew I had to try a fish dish on my next visit. It was a barramundi (poached and then baked in a broth; this was on the specials board for the day of 13 November) and it was amazing. Pizza was great (on our first visit); and pasta was amazing (second visit). Oh, and the fresh cookie with ice cream is a must.
Everything tasted fresh and had depth of flavour.
It's a small venue, cosy inside dining area, with an outside dining area. Dinner menu is smaller than the lunchtime menu.
Highly...
