(4.5 stars) We seem to end up at Camp Cove Beach on a Friday after work at least once a year. There’s something about its stunning Sydney skyline backdrop that helps to put a stressful week in the bin and reset you for the weekend. Yes, parking is awful here, you’ve got to be either lucky or brave as @waverleycouncil have decided to only allow rich residents to park near the beach (who does that?), there’s no outdoor shower and the super-cute kiosk assumes you are as rich as most of the crowd seems to be. Forgot your beachtowel? No worries, they have them at the bargain price of $45! But all is forgiven once you hit the sand, dive into the crystal-clear water, emerging to see that jewel of a city beyond the sunlight sparkling on the harbour.

This is a beach with a wonderful view of the Sydney skyline! My only complaint is the sand had quite a few sticks in it when we were there. So not a lot of fun to walk on. Perhaps there was a recent storm? That’s the only thing that’s keeping us from being a five star review. There is a little stand where you can purchase towels and a few drinks. It really is a fabulous beach. The sticks were the only bummer. Also, my husband was not exactly dressed for the beach! He looked like Johnny Cash in all black. ;) We were giggling at him. I wish I brought a suit because I really would have swam. But I dipped my feet in, and the water temp was a little chilly, which was perfectly refreshing on a warm day.

Such a beautiful place! Get there early as we got a parking in the car park at 6am, by 7:45am when we left, it was BUSY and the side streets were already filling up. If you are lucky to get a parking spot, it is a short walk to the beach. The kiosk opens at 7am and is reasonably priced. Great beach for young families as the water is calm and clear, soft sand, toilets, outdoor shower and a tap (behind the kiosk) to rinse off, park close by for some shade and beautiful walks along the coast line. The scenery is amazing and was absolutely worth the 4am wake up to get there! Roughly a 10 minute walk to the lighthouse - a few stairs but worth it, alot of history along the walk too!

Personally I find Camp Cove beach to be a hidden gem. Many people will know about Bondi and other more popular beaches around Sydney, but this is super quiet, super laid back, and has a relatively premium vibe (given that they're right behind residential areas, plus it's Watson Bay). There's a little recharge kiosk for simple food and drinks, there's a public toilet next to the beach, and there's a walking trail leading up to South Head and Hornby Lighthouse. Bring your own stuff for cleanup and changing; the toilet is relatively basic. We were here for our walk up towards South Head, but wished we brought stuff for the beach. Next time!

One of the best kid friendly beaches in Sydney, about 500 m walk up the cliff, one will get stunning views of harbour on one side and massiveness of ocean on the other side. As you walk past the loop track of hornby lighthouse, the breeze you would experience will be heavenly. On a perfect day, take a ferry ride from circular quay to Watsons bay, spend quality time on Camp cove beach and a walk up the cliff to Hornby lighthouse will leave everyone in family with moments to remember for ever.
