Fernwood Kirrawee is one of the worst gym's I've ever signed up to. It all started from when I first signed up, usually gyms give you free towels/shakers etc as a welcoming gift, I was just innocently enquiring and was judged instantly, the staff member side eye-ing me. There are 4 treadmills in the entire gym, not enough and they are always in use so if you want to get a cardio sesh in, just walk on the oval outside. At one stage, one of the treadmills was broken for 1.5 months, making it 3 treadmills in the entire gym. When I used to do my early cardio sessions, the air conditioning was set at 26-28 degrees, when I would adjust the air con because who wants to workout in an environment that resembles a tropical climate, the club took it upon themselves to install a lock box, effectively banning anybody from adjusting the air con, to save money. Absolutely ridiculous. I've almost fainted several times from the heat.
They wouldn't allow me to change my direct debit date, I get paid fortnightly on a Thursday at night (they direct debit first thing thursday morning) and they would constantly charge me "late fees". When I asked the staff nicely if I could change the direct debit date to Friday instead, they refused.
I was constantly bombarded with phone calls, asking if I needed a personal trainer/join their classes which was unnecessary and unprofessional. With so many rooms on their premise, they didn't factor a room where normal gym classes are held. Many times I was doing weights in the main room to have people in the class, take up so much room where there is no room to workout, stole my weights from me as I went to place them down and the trainer didn't seem to care or tell other members to respect other people's space. Really, really disappointed in their service (or lack thereof) and will never return or recommend to anybody...
Read moreI joined this gym at the beginning of the year. The facilities looked great, classes were good and trainers I liked as well. After not using an add on frequently enough I decided to remove reformer, I emailed the club and was told it was all in motion and would not be billed from a certain date. A month and a half later I was still being billed and it took multiple days to get this sorted as apparently their accounts person doesn't work everyday. I also was not offered a refund for overpaying but a credit to my account which made billing quite confusing as I had to freeze my membership at the same time due to personal reasons. Response times in general have been quite bad which is quite disappointing.
I have now requested to cancel my membership due to these personal reasons and not wanting to pay for something I am not using. I have emailed and have not had a response as yet regarding the cancellation of my membership. Again, extremely disappointed with response times and will be keeping an eye on the date I requested cancellation and what I am charged.
Communication is so vital for a business like this so its disappointing Fernwood Kirrawee lacks this. As mentioned the facilities are great but communications are pretty crap.
I have been a member of a number of gyms over the years and this has to be the worst customer service/communication response I have...
Read moreI got the foundation kirrawee membership which included unlimited Pilates and they oversold them which meant for the first 6 months I couldn’t book into class because they booked out within the first 10 mins (at 8 o’clock in the morning during everyone commute to work). When I asked if I could drop the Pilates aspect of my membership they told me, ‘we’re so sorry that’s happening, you’ll have to pay $100 though’.
You can’t take a shower at this gym because there’s no place to put your clothes or bag (not even a hook), so have fun trying reaching under the shower door to get yourself sorted. I gave them this feedback 4 months ago and nothings been done to my knowledge.
You can only get a 12-18 month membership and god forbid you move away, become injured or can’t use the gym anymore because you’ll have to pay $300 of your hard earned coin for a cancellation fee because seriously, Fernwood doesn’t care about you. You can also only put your membership on hold for 8 weeks (at $5 a weeks which to be fair is pretty standard for a gym). The only way to get rid of your membership is to sell it on to someone else.
The staff have always been friendly, kind and helpful and the facilities are always clean. The Pilates class are fantastic and I’m sure the other classes are great too. However this place is only women friendly only by virtue of the fact that men...
