We visited Moim on a Friday evening, hoping for a decent Japanese dinner after a long week. The place was extremely noisy inside, not to the fault of the owners, so we moved to the patio, which solved the problem. However, the food and the service still ruined our experience: the tuna sashimi tasted like cardboard (probably because it was kept frozen way too long, just not fresh), the salmon sashimi had a yucky aftertaste akin to pork (I know it is strange but it really stank), the beef teriyaki was so chewy that I couldn't eat most of it, and I had to remind the waiters to bring me the rice I ordered with my sashimi, and the 3 of us got only 1 piece of serviette.
I think the only reason Moim has a relatively high rating is that there is no other Japanese restaurant around Kirrawee, except for a Japanese noodle house.
The only positive impression we had was that the waiters were polite. Unfortunately that wasn't enough to compensate for all the shortcomings of...
Read moreTo whom it may concern, Last Friday (11/7) I spent my evening at Moim Japanese restaurant in Kirrawee. The fusion of Japanese culinary dishes was superb. I ordered a Chicken Katsu Udon and it tasted delightful. However, I have but one complaint, the service I received was frankly appalling. I was serviced by a young man around age 16 or so named Nate or something I believe. He spilt ICE COLD water on my friend’s crotch ruining his brand new designer slacks 👖. I would excuse this as a minor mistake but this Nathan didn’t apologise. It only worsened when my Udon liquid was placed carelessly down on the table ruining my pants and sending hot liquid running down my legs. I asked then for a fork because I can’t eat with chopsticks and I was met with looks of disgust and judgement by Nathan. I may have taken this the wrong way but I believe that Nathan needs to take more effort when servicing in the future....
Read moreNice little Japanese restaurant/tiny groceries store. The staff were friendly and welcoming. We got the lunch special bento box and bowl, beef tataki and salmon nigiri. The salmon was fresh and the beef tataki was nice and refreshing. The citrusy flavours went well with the finely sliced beef. The bento box was good for it's price ($12) and came with a decent amount of chicken, and some sides. The salmon bowl consisted of rice and cubes of teriyaki salmon and potato.
Overall a decent little Japanese restaurant with...
