This is a beautiful peninsula that is located in Sydney’s southeast. This is where Captain Arthur Phillip’s First Fleet initially landed in 1788, before deciding to settle at Sydney Cove. La Perouse is named after a French explorer, who arrived in Botany Bay a week after the first fleet. You can learn more about this history at the La Perouse Museum located here. It is free admission. This is a really beautiful place to visit with stunning views of the water and getting to see the ships coming and going. The small beach (Frenchman’s Beach) is ideal for a little BBQ (Great BBQ) facilities and also good toilet facilities including Disabled toilets if needed. You also have a lovely selection of cafes and restaurants to pick from. It’s a really nice walk, and if you are inclined, you can go over to Bare Island. It’s closed most of the time but still a nice walk and great scenery. It’s popular for scuba diving and snorkeling. Highly recommend a visit here. Thumbs...

Also has Bare island which is an old fortification used to defend early Sydney. Lots of grassy areas for picnics. You can also get ice cream, fish and chips. You can go down to the beach or do some fishing and rock climbing etc. Great outing for the family.
