I recently stayed at the newly renovated Manly Pacific right across the road from Manly Beach. Literally “room with a view”. From the moment I walked into the hotel I was greeted by warm & helpful staff dressed in stylish linen uniforms. My room was on the 5th floor & as I walked down the fresh white walled hallways across new carpet I felt right at home. The Hotel has a new contemporary style & the decor has that reminiscent feel of the Hamptons & pure Beach Chic…, I knew my room was going to be wonderful. From the stylish black modern numbers on my door, it was time for that oh… “wow” moment. My room was a King room with contemporary oak floors, white shiplap & modern Boho beach vibes overlooking the beach with stunning Norfolk Pine trees to enhance your stay. Simple things like the tea & coffee facilities made me feel at home. Stylish Coffee makers are crucial but kettles are often forgotten these days. I’m a tea drinker so they one my heart with a perfect contemporary black tea kettle. An extra bonus & well thought of, was having 2 x well sized tetra pack milks in the fridge. Most Hotels fail, only ever providing milk for one cup of tea with those tinny UHT milks. Win win for Many Pacific ;) & this happy tea drinker. The hotel is totally on point for well travelled foodies & tea & coffee connoisseurs, (Aussies are complete coffee snobs & they know their coffee) there is a mix of sensational delights for snacks & well chosen selection of local brewers beers, award winning Gin makers & mixers in each room. All these delights are a slice of perfection. Nothing beats a bed with fresh white bed linen with a mattress that takes you off to sleep within moments feeling like you’re floating on a cloud, with a mix of pillows on each bed so you can choose a personal perfect pillow. The bedside tables are an earthy stone that grounds the room not just in looks but gives the room a feel of stylish luxuriousness. You will love the wooden stool that can alternately be a tiny coffee table next to the pale duck egg blue swivel chair (perfect spot for calling friends telling them about your home for the next few days) It’s a statement piece in my books. The Hotel also provides 2 x grey linen bath robes so you can sit on the balcony overlooking the beach & surf with salty air to invigorate your senses so you can contemplate life in style. Or sit on the balcony after a day at the beach freshly showered sipping a G & T from Manly Spirits (right from your fridge). What more is there to life than these moments.. <sigh loudly> The bathroom is always a signature statement to a hotel room & often defines your stay. The bathrooms are modern, with clean lines, contemporary tiles in the shower are a gorgeous earthy sage colour. The room is stunning & feels peaceful, gleamingly clean with fantastic backlighting for your makeup or shaving moments, the main tiles are an earthy grayish colour. Now…the huge white towels are fluffy & you can actually wrap around your body and any tall woman/guy/will be thankful for. They have chosen a range of aromatherapy scented soaps, & shampoo/conditioners that smell amazing, & you won’t need to use your own as these are all beautiful products. Farewell to tiny soaps that are so last year. The continental breakfast downstairs is Manly’s best kept secret for $25 beautiful fresh fruits, cereals and bakery delights and fantastic sourdough toast with fresh juices & tea/coffee will keep you going. Alternately there is a full hot breakfast. It’s without a doubt this Hotel “should” be awarded internationally acclaimed accreditation for its class & decor & style. Do your self a favor & book a staycation, you will absolutely love it. Not only the hotel, but the choice of great restaurants, cafes & beaches on your door step. Plus you can grab the train from the Airport & then Ferry & be at the hotel within 40mins. You will leave feeling refreshed & peaceful & you will probably book your next trip.

I had a night stay from 26th April to 27th April. Manly Pacific MGallery always had a good review and feedback on Accor page so when a red hot deal came out, I thought I'd give them a go. The hotel has a very good location in Manly, and new-ish rooms with typical MGallery style white and wooden colour interior. We were happy that we finally found a good hotel for our regular staycation outside of Sydney CBD. But it didn't take long to change that. After checking in and before leaving the room for a dinner, I thought I'd turn on the heater to set to a certain temperature so I turned the heater on and left. At around 7-8pm came back from dinner and the room was still cold. I found out that the heater in the room was not working, so I called the front desk where one of the gentleman staff member came to check and confirmed it was not blowing any warm air at all. The gentleman asked me if Id be interested in changing to a different room on the lower floor, and I said yes, so he told me that he will get back to me later after checking a few things. So we packed our bags all ready to move. 5 minutes later, one of the other lady staff rang me and said "oh the other room isnt set up" so all she can offer was a portable heater. We were tired and "thought" the staff were doing their best to resolve the issue so I said no problem and just thought we'd just put an extra layer of jacket. However, when the staff handed us the portable heater, I was speechless. As you can see in the photo, the heater was very old, dirty and full of dust, the back side of it had dust hanging out like someones hair, and they couldnt even bothered to check or at least wipe it with a wet tissue. My hygienic standard isn't that high but this was unacceptable for me as both my son and I are asthmatic. It almost felt like a message from the hotel saying "get this heater and don't complain" gesture but I was confused as I havent asked or even mentioned any upgrades or compensation! When I returned it, the lady at the reception said if you want another one, I can give you this and shes shown me the bigger shinier and newer looking portable heater. I mean if you could offer that, why not done in the first place? This has completely ruined our night as it got colder and made me think I got treated this way as I booked through the cheaper red hot room rate. Also, the room had a massive mechanical fan noise so if you are on a sensitive side, I would recommend avoiding room numbers ending 05 & 06. Next morning at 10am, when we came back from the breakfast, they have locked us out before the check out 🤣🤣 which was clearly stated as 11am. The general manager Darcy? Kept checked on us via message but you know its just something systematic but not actually caring about the customer. Overall it was quite a disappointing stay despite all the good reviews on Accor Plus and Accor All facebook group. You wouldn't expect to stay in a 5 star hotel room without a working heater during the winter, and also face the dusty portable heater after paying hundreds of dollars for a night and still get your access card deactivated an hour earlier than your check out time.

Unfortunately, my stay at this M Gallery hotel was one of the worst I’ve had within the Accor group. The positives: The location in Manly is excellent, just across from the beach and close to restaurants, shops, and bars. The common areas such as the bar, bistro, foyer, and pool are well-maintained and aesthetically pleasing. The negatives: My overall experience was disappointing. While the staff at checkout listened to my concerns and waived the parking fee to show some goodwill, it didn’t fully make up for the numerous issues during my stay. Despite requesting a body washer three times, it was never provided, and we ended up buying one from a nearby convenience store. Body wash in the shower should be a basic requirement of a hotel! The amenities are provided in large, refillable tubes, which may explain why housekeeping didn’t notice they were empty. The bathroom was small, with a narrow shower lacking a full screen, causing it to flood. The fitout was outdated, with visible wear and tear. Water was provided in a jar, but there were no glasses or cups. The curtain stick was broken. The pillows provided were unsuitable (too fluffly) for me, and there were no alternatives, according to the front desk. I couldn’t remove my car from the underground parking, despite being told at check-in that I could come and go as needed. As a platinum member, I received no recognition of my loyalty. Many hotels in the Accor group offer upgrades or other benefits for loyalty members, but not this one. Lastly, there was a plumbing issue that cut off the water supply without any warning or notice. After a swim in the ocean, I returned to find no water available to shower. As I had work commitments, I had to gather my belongings and use a nearby building’s facilities (it did cause a lot of stress and delays to find another shower) Overall, the stay did not meet my expectations for an M Gallery property, and the lack of basic service and amenities was very disappointing.

My wife and myself booked through Wotif for a 5 night stay from Monday 23rd December 2019 at the Novotel Manly because of the 4.5 rating as advised by Wotif. The cost including parking was in excess of $3000. $500 -$550 per night plus $50 self car parking I would rate the Novotel at 1 star at best. I tried to write a review on Wotif however they advised it was published when I had not finished and could not go back to the review to add comments. As for the hotel - Do not stay there. Problems we had were, Check in. Waited approx 10 minutes before pleasant young lady checked us in. Had problems with concierge as he could not converse with passable English and was more concerned talking to a young lady than doing his job. Eventually another person from reception took our bags to our room. Room. Pleasant enough although tired. Bathroom has not been updated and appeared to be from the 80's. Needs a light over mirror, an exhaust fan and shower area updated. I doubt very much if someone elderly could get into the bath to shower. Needs new carpets. Tiles on balcony need attention as many are lifting and could cause a trip and fall. Bed was not properly made on first night On second day room was not made up until about 3.00 pm so was unable have a rest. Complained and second day it was made up early. On third day - Cockroach in bath in the morning and bed not made up until again complained at 12.15pm. Day 4 and bed made up early. Day 5 night was spent listening to extremely loud music until after midnight. Our room was apparently over the downstairs bar that plays disco. Car park closed which required going back to reception to access our car. (Car park retain keys in locked cabinet) Breakfast / Bistro. Breakfast in bistro was good however difficult to find a seat. As one other guest said " it's a bun fight". Had lunch in the bistro - very ordinary. Would not recommend. Food very ordinary and a bottle of Dog Point Savy blanc that sells $24.99 in Dan Murphys was $65. Assistant Manager was kind enough to deduct car parking from our bill but damage was done.
