Mona Vale Beach, beautiful, family friendly and crowded. Though, if you are looking for a calmer beach stay and ocean swim, try Basin Beach which is about 150m north of Mona Vale Rock Pool. Basin Beach has easier access to the ocean, (Bongin Bongin Bay). The wave action is generally manageable and child friendly. Also great access for kayaking and stand up paddle boarding straight off the beach and into the water. Gloriously cold water which is such a fantastic body refresher on a traditional boiling hot Sydney summer day. Parking here is expensive. One hour cost ten dollars on weekends. Still its worth the parking fee because there is a very calm atmosphere once you exit the busy parking area. One would not believe that Sydney’s busiest traffic mad beach road, Barrenjoey Road. Currently there is a new covered area, change rooms and toilets under construction which looks great. Lovely beach and well used by locals and visitors alike. Bring your own shade and look no after your skin. Also bring your own water and food. You can sit under the shade at the very few picnic booths and have a beer, read a newspaper soak up the ocean breeze coming off Bongin Bongin Bay. It’s a blister in the sun!

Mona Vale Beach: Where Paradise Meets Reality! Just imagine stepping onto a beach that's been crowned one of the 34 best beaches in the world by The Condé Nast Traveler. Well, that's exactly what Mona Vale Beach offers! Nestled along the stunning coastline of Sydney, this beach is a true gem. With its pristine sands, crystal-clear waters, and breathtaking views, Mona Vale Beach is like stepping into a postcard. Whether you're soaking up the sun, taking a refreshing dip in the ocean, or simply strolling along the shoreline, every moment here feels like a dream. But what sets Mona Vale apart isn't just its natural beauty; it's the vibrant atmosphere and sense of community that truly make it special. From families enjoying picnics to surfers catching waves, there's a palpable energy that fills the air. So, if you're looking for a slice of paradise right here in Sydney, look no further than Mona Vale Beach. It's not just a beach; it's an experience you won't soon forget!

Mona Vale beach is a nice beach, with a smaller section to the north, which is good for the kids, because it's a bit more sheltered.

There's a rock pool at the end of the rocky outcrop towards the north. The pool is relatively shallow throughout, which allows older children who are swimmers to play relatively safely, whilst also being able to do a few laps.

On our most recent visit, there was a strong wind, which whipped up the dry sand and blasted us. There are no real shady spots, so a beach tent is recommended.

There's a good amount of parking near the Mona Vale Surf Lifesaving Club, although non-locals need to pay $10 per hour (up to $40 per day) in peak season and $8 per hour (up to $35 in non-peak season. If you don't want to pay that, there is some free parking in the surrounding streets, but it seems hard to get a space.

Across the road from the carpark is the Apex Park. It's a good kids' park sheltered by sail shades and two...
