Mona Vale Beach, beautiful, family friendly and crowded. Though, if you are looking for a calmer beach stay and ocean swim, try Basin Beach which is about 150m north of Mona Vale Rock Pool. Basin Beach has easier access to the ocean, (Bongin Bongin Bay). The wave action is generally manageable and child friendly. Also great access for kayaking and stand up paddle boarding straight off the beach and into the water. Gloriously cold water which is such a fantastic body refresher on a traditional boiling hot Sydney summer day. Parking here is expensive. One hour cost ten dollars on weekends. Still its worth the parking fee because there is a very calm atmosphere once you exit the busy parking area. One would not believe that Sydney’s busiest traffic mad beach road, Barrenjoey Road. Currently there is a new covered area, change rooms and toilets under construction which looks great. Lovely beach and well used by locals and visitors alike. Bring your own shade and look no after your skin. Also bring your own water and food.
