The Mona Vale Hotel — Restaurant in Sydney

Haven't been to the hotel for two years. Went on Saturday 13 th oct surprised how it looked. Seemed okay thought the prices of drinks were quite high especially the wine where I believe you should put a more reasonable price for bottle of wine to cater for people you can't afford the high $40 plus price didn't feel that was fair you're catering for the higher market which is fine but need to cater for a mix of all. Back area looked okay didn't get a good feel or welcome feel as previous visits two years ago before I moved always enjoyed going to the Mona vale then. I Looked forward to going there but disappointed me sorry to say.

Decided to go back on Thursday 18 th with a group of 10 people for dinner. Decided to go through the front entrance not a good choice on my part walked into the smoking area and into a not so nice area which I take you may in time fix that up. Suggestion to have smoking area moved I have nothing against smokers but it's not a welcoming to people walking through the front entrance to go to the back . Unfortunately the people I brought with me weren't happy either felt prices were to high on wine bottles they only bought 1 bottle between them (4 people) where normally they would purchase more normally They weren't happy with the menu a lot of mix feelings which is disappointing they all said they won't return.

Staff mix feelings when they weren't talking to each other and then look at you and show a look of who is going to come and serve you and pouring a glass of wine which the level was never the same.

I be back next year hopefully I will like on the next...

Friday night was collectively between the majority of patrons who ordered food after 6pm a real let down. Everyone was aware of the additional 1 hour wait for food but waiting almost two hours for a pizza nuggets and Poke bowl was long stretch. The main issue however was when I asked for an update on food (to decide whether to persist or cancel the order) the pizza was sitting under the warm light on one side of the pass, the nuggets on the other side and the poke bowl in the middle. Note there was always at least 20-30 dishes sitting at the pass … it would appear the buzzer system was not working as you would have to go to the kitchen to enquire and they would kinda jigsaw puzzle the dishes together. Pizza was dry and stale, nuggets dry and hard and poke bowl was soggy … I guess given the time all the dishes sat around. A positive of the unfortunate circumstances we were able to connect and chat with adjacent tables about the food and service issues. Upon leaving we noticed more people complaining and the pass was full of meals sitting there and staff seemed to be making no real effort to communicate with patrons about what I would only assume is a computer system / buzzer stuff up. Usually the staff vibe and outdoor kids area is awesome and will be back but will be careful about how / if we order food...

Recently at lunch here. The place is quite cosy and warm but the quality of food for price is awful.

On the menu is a 22 dollar beef burger with chips. The patty on it was so small that we were surprised that it wasn't a slider. It contained only 1 piece of tomatoe and 1 piece of lettuce. The chips were nice but there was hardly any on the plate. It tasted okay but you could find the exact same thing with a much better quality for half the price anywhere else.

Another item we ordered was the beer battered fish and chips, it was also a little over 20 dollars. The fish was quite big although there was a lack of chips but the taste was bland and boring. For something that costs this much you would expect something much better than 2 plain pieces of fish and a tiny amount of chips.

Overall the kids meals were nice and the Cali-light salad bowl tasted great!

The renovations and atmosphere are great within the restaurant and it accommodates all kinds of diners but overall the value for money needs to be improved, otherwise it won't be worth coming back here again. Would easily give it a 4-5 star rating if the price was lowered or the serving sizes were...
