I recently dined at The Basin Dining Room, and I’m still dreaming about the meal we had. This place is an absolute gem, and I can’t recommend it enough! From the moment we walked in, the warm, inviting atmosphere and attentive service set the tone for an unforgettable evening.

Now, let’s talk about the food—because WOW. The steak I ordered was cooked to perfection, tender and juicy, but what truly stole the show was the sauce. I’m not exaggerating when I say it was one of the best sauces I’ve ever tasted in my life. Rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced, it elevated the dish to a whole new level. Every bite was a revelation, and I found myself savoring every last drop.

And then there was the lobster slipper. My partner and I have had lobster dishes at some of the finest restaurants, but this one? Hands down, the best we’ve ever had. The lobster was succulent, sweet, and cooked to absolute perfection, paired with a buttery, garlicky sauce that was simply divine. It was a dish that left us speechless—and trust me, that doesn’t happen often.

My recent visit to The Basin was for my fiancé's B'day and it really surprised me. Often, places with epic views tend to serve overpriced, mediocre food with average service. However, The Basin was a breath of fresh air.

The waitstaff surpassed my expectations, it's great to have a venue not field a bunch of untrained kids on the floor. Not only were they well-trained, but they were also genuinely attentive and friendly.

The drink menu was extensive, featuring a delightful selection of cocktails and even a few sakes. I particularly appreciated the inclusion of slow gin. While the wine list was impressive, offering decent options by the glass, a touch more variety from regions like South America or the US would have been ideal to balance it with the numerous Australians (by the glass).

Checking the menu, I found myself spoiled for choice. The food itself was great – fresh, balanced, and interesting.

You know how some places really shine with their main dishes, but desserts often fall short, especially without a dedicated pastry chef? Well, here's the kicker – The desserts stole the show. Trust me, you gotta try their Basque cheesecake. It's epic!

Overall, I'd rate my experience a solid 5/5, making The Basin one of my favourite spots in the beaches. It's refreshing to find a venue that matches the food quality of what you can find in the city.
