Update: New owners clearly are just as delusional as the previous, look at the photo and judge for yourself. Their response proudly displays arrogance, condescension and lack of accountability. Try your luck at your own risk.

Big breakfast? More like big disappointment. We ordered the big breakfast expecting a large portion size similar to many other cafes I've eaten at in Sydney. We travelled over an hour to what we thought was going to be a nice cafe by the beach for Father's day and instead left frustrated and hungry.

The menu states that it includes poached eggs, chorizo, bacon, focaccia in a shakshuka. It's incredibly hard to stomach paying $25 for this when it only includes a single small piece of focaccia, 2 small rashers of bacon, a tiny chorizo sausage that is cut in half, and a tiny wedge of avocado. Poached eggs were simply thrown on top of the tomato paste and veggie mixture instead of baked into itself like an authentic shakshuka.

The food didn't taste bad but for the portion size is incredibly hard to not feel like we were taken for a ride. We complained about the portion size and the only consolation is that we were offered pieces of bread but at the same time we're backhandedly reminded that the pieces of bread are usually $3 each.

In addition, the flat white we ordered as extra hot wasn't even hot and the iced long black was about average.

Would not recommend eating here unless you have the stomach of a...

Oh Dear Something's gone wrong... Been here before and the 'privileged to be allowed to eat here' atmosphere aside, it was ok. Sitting here now it took 4 separate requests of 4 different staff to have some milk with my coffee to no avail, 10 minutes later I got up and served myself. Then after being ignored by selectively blind wait staff and ignored by another 4 verbal requests for service,I finally managed to ask about the food and was told it was at least half hour wait ( half an hour passed long ago). They finally brought out 2 hot plates and made me wait for another 10 minutes for pancakes I could have made at home, all the food got cold I asked for a manager and was told there weren't any. Armchair is what you'll need for waiting at this place. Not again thanks very much. Who needs that 'I saw you coming' attitude? OMG! Just finished food and a wait staff just asked if there was anything else we needed!!!?? I told em they could've asked 1 hour ago!! Offered me a comp coffee but it really isn't about getting something for free after you've spent $70 on your breakfast ( I...

We live locally and are regulars to this cafe, we like the location, coffee, food and service. We have been away for several weeks so went down for our breakfast here as we have done many times. The place was just about empty which us unusual, we ordered our coffee and the egg and bacon roll to share as we usually do. The first roll to come out was a gluten free one on toast, sent it back as it was not what we ordered, next one that came out didn’t look too good, took the top bun off and it had just one over cooked small egg, should have been two eggs and about half a piece of bacon. Sent it back and asked for a refund, all the young boy who served us could do was laugh, not a good response. Maybe they don’t have a chef here any more but just a bad cook. You have just lost a loyal customer who will tell plenty of local about the bad food...

Great food, average coffee, service is lacking. We waited by the door for a while before being acknowledged (holding a toddler, a few minutes feels like a long time!). The waitress didn't explain to order at the bar & when I asked for a menu, I was directed to the bar, even though she was standing only a few places from where they are stored. The waitress didn't offer a child seat even though it was clear we had a toddler. She didn't even bring table water or anything. Could be made to feel more welcome. Falafel could do with slicing as the second half of the pita is just filled with lettuce but the taste & texture was fantastic. Sweet potato wedges were fantastically crispy. Would appreciate no salt being added but should have requested that. Mocha was ok, could have used a better chocolate for it.

This is an outstanding cafe on Darley Street (east) at Mona Vale, a stone's throw from the beach. Super cool food and a most inviting setting, both inside and alfresco. The service is sensational, even during a hectic time in which I visited for brunch on Sunday. I had arguably the best scrambled eggs and smoked salmon I have had anywhere - and I go to a lot of cafes! The flat white coffee was state of the art. The cafe is also adorned with an eclectic array of interesting homewares which you can purchase. So if you are visiting the northern beaches as we were (from the Hills District) then this is a mega awesome cafe to consider. I will definitely be going back for those scrambled eggs, and indeed the whole experience.
