The coffee here is good, but the food and atmosphere left a lot to be desired. I ordered the chef's special, a fattoush salad, described on the menu as marinated grilled chicken, cos lettuce, pomegranate, tomato medley, crackers (which I thought might have been their interesting twist on the salad), and the chef’s special fattoush dressing. However, half the bowl was filled with corn chips instead of traditional crackers. When I asked the staff if this was correct, they just shrugged and said, 'crackers, corn chips.' I ended up removing half of them and breaking a few over the salad, hoping to get closer to a typical fattoush. I also noticed they’d forgotten the pomegranate, but when I asked, they did bring a small bowl of it for me to pour on top. Felt like a made my own salad in the end.
While the grilled chicken was fresh with a nice marinade, the salad was a disappointment, and the service was rather dismissive.
My dad ordered the Reuben sandwich, but it came with overly thick slices of corned beef that made it a bit unappetizing, and the focaccia was burnt and dry. My mum had the avocado toast, and while the toppings were fine, the bread was overcooked. Overall, while the coffee was good, the food quality and service left much...

Had a great feeling walking into this cafe right normal the start. It was inviting warm and friendly. Apparently now under new management, while I can't comment on what they were like before, currently they certainly emanate the right feel for a cozy cafe.
Due to the lack of single origin coffee (which apparently they are in the process of rectifying) I started off with a mac to cover any harshness that might hide away in the house blend... but there were none. Nothing harsh at all. It was mellow, warm, slightly fruity.. and really quite enjoyable.
To test the theory further I the grabbed an espresso and... it was also warm, mellow and a little fruity with a very clean finish. As house blends go it was one of the cleanest I've had in ages.
So with a great atmosphere, great coffee, and a conveniently placed free public parking lot on the street behind them, this is an easy recommendation. It will be interesting to see how they expand the range of available coffees (as I can already see they offer cold drip).
N.B. There is #powerwhoring available at the table next to the coffee machine There is no public WiFi available There is courtyard seating...
Read moreI've tried the many coffee places in the area and this is my favourite of the bunch. Some are too expensive, or have average service, while others can't make coffee. They also have a variety of blends on offer, so if you want to explore something new, I recommend it. It can get really busy at times, so a bit of patience is required if you're simply after a take-away in peak hour. Their breakfasts are excellent. For lunch, I particularly like their quinoa (pronounced keen-wa ppl!) salad. The place is run by an outfit of young, enthusiastic and friendly people from a variety of different backgrounds. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that many have an interest in the Arts. They often support local artists by having their work on display. What I like best about the place is that they feel like "Rozelle". Don't forget to thank the chef and kitchen crew. It's a tight space back there, but they...
