I dropped into the corner bar to investigate the ambience and sample a drink, most of them are variations of Margaretas although I was corrected later by the management for not mentioning they had a wide variety of alcohol available. The sign out the front advertises them for 10 dollars each which is pretty reasonable for a real one but it's just the take away price . You get.. No sorry sir that's the take away version.... It comes in a plastic IV style bag with a straw. I decided the 10 bucks for the machine style slerpy mix loaded with tequila might be OK considering sitting inside drinking the same thing is 18 bucks. hmm... I always thought cocktails were overpriced. Paid for my coffee cup of slush and drank it at the markets across the road, what did I think of the reconstituted slush and lemon... Really not that good actually and the management assured me they are hand made squeezed lemons stored in the slushy machine. It just dosent taste like one to me, guess I have a good reason if you are a mex bar serve real drinks that's what a cocktail is for those prices. Maybe I'm wrong here. The two drinks tried were Lemmon and Strawberry after tasting them we both agreed they both tasted mostly the same?.I'm not sure about this place maybe it's got good food or something first fleeting...
Read moreI am not sure what has happened to this place, but it's food, service and value for money has really gone downhill. I used to go to the Corner Bar regularly when it first opened a few years ago. Today we went for a lunch service. The couple next to us left without ordering after trying unsuccessfully to flag down the waitress a number of times - we should have taken that as a sign. The food was terrible! I ordered a pesto chicken caprese salad which was a super-thin and dried out piece of chicken with pesto smeared over it, a handful of greens, 3 slices of tomato and 3 slices of a mini boccocini ball - for $22! The $9 haloumi was no better - 6 thin slices of grilled haloumi, I could have done it better myself. Perhaps the Corner Bar is still a good venue for cocktails / a night out, but I would suggest avoiding it for breakfast or...
Read moreFunky café on Darling Street at Rozelle. Again a hipster approach , black painted walls with a funky and eclectic choice of furniture and decor - which worked really well. The coffee was delightful, and the food was delicious. The staff were über friendly and helpful too. The water bottles are old liquor bottles, and the spoons were the old travelling spoons with a logo or location stuck to the top which I thought was cool. The only thing - but sadly this is just Sydney - the prices were expensive. A sandwich eat in was $22. Eggs and toast were $10 bit if you wanted to add bacon, mushrooms or avocado it was an extra $4.50 each.... $4.50 for a 1/4 of an avocado.... Yeah when pigs fly. Really lovely, just a bit on the expensive side...
