We booked in advance which avoided a slight queue. Ride up is smooth, can be a little bit of a squeeze in the cabs, there was 8 in on the way up but just the 2 of us on the way down. Apparently they fit 16??

Once up the mountain, views are spectacular, and a few different walking routes. Watching the para gliders is fun. Signs saying you could have a go as a passenger for €130. We chose a hike instead, the smallest at about 3 miles which was moderately challenging towards the end with a 400ft incline.

We stopped for a toastie at the top which was nice. All I will say is look at the price of drinks, we didn’t!! €4.50 for a soft drink €1 cheaper than the toastie.

This is a must do activity which doesn’t take all day. We allowed 3 hours...

Soweit so gut.

Overlooking the Barmsee this beautiful location is accessible via a cable car not far from the lake. The Karwendel is the largest mountain range of the Northern Limestone Alps. It is located on the Austria–Germany border. The major part belongs to the Austrian federal state of Tyrol, while the adjacent area in the north is part of Bavaria, Germany. Also known as the Blue Mountains. The facilities include traditional dishes and a selection of local beers and soft drinks. The views are stunning and the food is freshly prepared good size portions.
