Kärnten Museum — Attraction in Klagenfurt

The collections of the Landesmuseum für Kärnten originate from the collecting activities of the History Association of Carinthia (1845), the Natural Science Association of Carinthia (1848) and the Carinthian Landsmannschaft. Since 1884 the collections in the Landesmuseum Rudolfinum in Klagenfurt have a common house. In 1974 the collections were handed over by the associations to the province of Carinthia for care and mediation. In 1998, the Landesmuseum für Kärnten was spun off from the provincial administration and set up as a public-law institution. The owner of the collections is the province of Carinthia.

Von außen sieht das Gebäude nach der langen Bauzeit wirklich top renoviert aus, auch im Inneren hell und modern, inkl. Panoramalift. Die Ausstellung selbst kann man positiv als übersichtlich bezeichnen, denn nach 15 Minuten hat man alles gesehen, inkl. sehr viel langer, leerer Gänge. Gut, beim alten Museum hat man wegen verstaubter Viecher gewitzelt, man fand aber von lokaler Tierwelt, über Römerzeit, Urgeschichte bis Kärntner Volkskultur eine vielfältige Ausstellung, oft auch interessante Sonderausstellungen wie Fledermäuse, Ratten, .... Das findet man jetzt auch noch, aber gefühlt eine Vitrine pro Thema auf im Vergleich zu früher halber begehbarer Fläche. Dafür wurde an der Beschriftung gespart, so wie der Eyecatcher, Dinoskelett im 2. Stock. Was ist denn das für einer, frug mein Sohn. Keine Ahnung, da steht nur, dass der Mensch für das 6. Massensterben verantwortlich ist, dem Thema widmet man übrigens die halbe Fläche im 2. Stockwerk und damit ein Viertel der Gesamtfläche. Ja, fühlten uns schlecht, dass man für unseren Besuch eingeheizt und Licht gemacht hat und damit unseren CO2 Fußabdruck hinterlassen haben, das wäre entbehrlich gewesen, waren ja die einzigen Besucher. Am Ausgang sahen wir dann die überall gesuchten Wegweiser für die beiden Etagen, davon sollte man sich ein Foto machen, damit man weiß, wie die thematisch in keinem Zusammenhang stehenden Räume zugeordnet sind. Im Aufzug merkt man auch nur durch Probieren, dass 1 und 2 zu den Ausstellungen führen und -1 und -2 beim Drücken keine Funktion haben. Das mussten wir ja probieren, nachdem wir uns nach 15.Minuten Besuchszeit fragten, ob das jetzt alles war. Für Eintritt via Kärnten-Card war es ja noch OK, hätten wir pro Nase 10€ bezahlt wäre es ärgerlich gewesen. Tipp an Lehrer: einen Halbtag füllt der Museumsbesuch leider nicht mehr, aber in einer Schulstunde geht sich der Besuch mit An- und...
