WELCOME||A VERY friendly greeting on arrival.||English spoken sufficiently well to enable a chat. ||||SMOKING||Certainly there was a hint of smoke in the foyer on arrival, but NO SMELL OF SMOKE in the room. The hotel caters for smokers in the bar adjacent to the foyer, and in the courtyard. Anyone who says they can smell smoke in the room either has a vivid imagination ...or is a liar, trying to claw money back.||||ACCOMMODATION||More than satisfactory.... with a refrigerator to keep one's own drinks in. Flat screen TV. Everything you need in the bathroom, including a 'shower cap' which cheered up the memsahib, who had forgotten hers.||||There is no lift..... for wheelchair bound individuals, or disabled they will provide a ground floor room. Why not consider the walk upstairs anecessity if you are eating out (Austrian portions are generally larger than life !)||||PARKING||Security conscious with an electronically controlled password, changed daily, to gain entrance to the hotel after 10pm. Entrance by car is a bit narrow, but managable. Anyone who is unable to operate the password controlled gate has drunk just a little too much Austrian beer. Goodness knows, it's written down for you.||||BREAKFAST||Just about anything you want for the day's start. Typical Austrian bread, rolls, smoked ham, cheese, yoghurts, plus the normal cereals, and sweet items for even the British palette. ||||LOCATION||Klagenfurt is not so large that you cannot walk pretty well everywhere, and within 5 minutes from the hotel on foot, we were sitting in the sun in the Neue Platz (Big Dragon in the centre...) sipping Hinbeersaft, plus a beer.||||GENERAL||AT € 95 for the night we were more than satisfied with what was available (we are both late 60's, and much travelled) and will without question re-visit Klagenfurt... and stay at this...
Read moreThis is a friendly, straightforward, small hotel that's a short walk from Klagenfurt's centre. ||||No complaints from me. It has everything needed - a good-sized room, aircon set at a comfortable temperature, breakfast with sufficient offerings to satisfy gluten-free requirements (ham, cheese, fruit, olives, yoghurt, etc), and front desk service that feels pleasantly personal.||||A nice little bonus is the good lighting in the bathroom. Finally, a bathroom design that was approved by a woman before installation! No issue with applying makeup there, in contrast to the acrobatics required in most hotels (hand-held mirrors by window light, kneeling on the floor, etc) where lighting has been designed to make the bathroom look pretty, rather than you. ||||If you have difficulty with stairs ask for a room on a lower floor. There is no lift to the...
Read moreBedroom: clean room but uncomfortable beds, no air condition. The doors must be locked with the key because they can be opened both from the inside and the outside without the key.||Bathroom: clean but not well built and much water was flooding out of the shower since the doors of the bathroom were not closing properly.||Breakfast: nice variety of food. Upper average quality except the fruit salad which was not made out fresh fruits.||Summary: average hotel, but for sure not worth the EUR 95,- for a...
