Only visited because it's included in the City Card and we were checking out the fortress anyway.
I was utterly confused by the concept, because it seems to be devoted to advertising for other museums rather than presenting any information of interest. The entirety of the first two rooms are just sneak peeks of points of interest in the city (for example, you get to stamp some postcards, which are actually from the Plantin-Moretus Museum?)
No information to be found about the actual building it's housed in either, which is shocking considering it's 800 years old.
Don't waste your money, unless you've got free entry. The panorama is free, but don't expect too much from it either—it's a tiny platform that doesn't offer much of a view. The toilets were...
Read moreCity vanity project and tourist trap. Not only does it deface the oldest building of the city, the contents of this building are exactly as tasteless and arrogant as its outward appearance makes you suspect. Nothing of interest inside: corny souvenir shop and reception where they can't answer basic questions, useless 'cruise ship terminal', museum devoid of insightful artefacts or information, fake 'testimonies' shamelessly bragging about the city (ie fashion, diamonds) and covertly spreading propaganda from its Flemish nationalist managment, google maps footage, and a 'viewing platform' that doesn't stick out above any building in the vicinity (thank God). Visit any other museum in Antwerp and you'll...
Read moreThe building has some interesting aspects, but this tour has nothing (and I mean nothing) to do with the medieval fortress it resides within. Two of the rooms on the self-guided tour have exciting visual projections on the floor that leave you a bit dizzy, but they don’t do much to help you connect with the culture, understand the history, or steer you towards more things to see. Felt more like shameless propaganda. Save the money, just go there for the panoramic view from the rooftop and the glimpse at one of the remaining walls preserved inside. Those sites are free...
