Sint-Niklaaskerk (Saint Nicholas Church) is a landmark in the Historic City Centre. It is located amongst many important attractions, making it convenient to visit when in Ghent. Opening hours are 10-5pm (Wed-Sun) and 2-5pm (Mondays). Here you find a beautiful building Scheldt Gothic in style, dating back to the 13th century. The church is constructed from stone from the Tournai area, giving it a blue-grey tinge. I really like the slender turrets, a really nice dimension that adds something of a fairytale quality to the church exterior. The interior is rather simple but has some nice things to see including the historic and important organ made by Aristide Cavaille-Coll of France. I also like the Baroque altar, which is beautiful to view from front and back. There are nice wall frescos and stained glass windows to see as well. Given the convenient location, it is easy to include a stop at Sint-Niklaaskerk for 15-20 minutes while sightseeing in the Historic City Centre of Ghent. The church is free to enter and visit but do consider giving a donation to help with the ongoing restorations of this important historic building.

This church is one of the oldest and most prominent landmarks in Ghent which is located at the Korenmarkt (wheat market).Very nice church. My favorite in whole town. It has very impressive exterior. Made in gothic style with very nice cupola.During weekends especially on saturday it will be crowded with tourists. If you want to reach this church from Central station Gent sint pieters then take Tram 1 just opposite to Sint pieters station and get down at korenmarkt stop,it may take 15-20mins approx to reach korenmarkt

View of Saint Nicholas' Church "Sint Niklaaskerk" and Ghent city skyline seen from the Belfort tower, Ghent Belgium Another one of those places that win whether you go inside or don't. Great inside but don't miss the outside architecture from up top of other buildings surrounding it, especially from top of Belfort tower. It's worth spending some time throughout the day for different lights and cloud conditions. Sheltered from the rain photos of Sint Niklaaskerk come out great under clouds

A 13th century Scheldt-Gothic church. Architectural style Scheldt-Gothic actually originated from the Scheldt river and shows specific features such as a long tower and the use of blue-green stone blocks collected from the river. It’s been demolished and renovated over the years. The church is known to be one of the most common spots for merchants and marketers in the history. Completely free to visit and I would definitely recommend.

Sint-Niklaaskerk is one of Ghent's oldest Catholic churches dedicated to St Nicholas of Myra. It was built in the 13th century. It was built in the Gothic style from blue suprascald stone. It has a 76-metre-high tower at the intersection of the naves. The church reflects the history and culture of Ghent. The church contains works of art and a historic organ from the 19th century.
