Moochie — Local services in Ghent

Very unfriendly staff. No smiles at any point during our visit – it was as if they were both annoyed at our presence, even though there were few people in the shop.

The frozen yogurt with stevia was described as "identical, but less sweet" by a staff member. It turned out, however, that it did not taste like frozen yogurt at all. None of the characteristic acidity of yogurt was present in the stevia variety, even though the regular variety tasted just as it should. We assumed that this was a mistake, and after tasting a scoop each, we informed the staff and politely asked for the regular version instead. They were very rude and simply refused to do anything about it, claiming instead that it was our problem, since we could have asked to taste it beforehand (nobody offered us a taste when we asked how the stevia differed from the regular version). After about 5 minutes of needless haggling in front of customers – during which we repeatedly stated that any product labeled "frozen yogurt" should taste like frozen YOGURT, not regular ice cream – they begrudgingly gave us a regular one.

In summary: good regular frozen yogurt, totally bland stevia frozen yogurt, horrible...

So for the yoghurt itself: Very icy, slight soy taste, nothing more. It's seriously no comparison to cow milk froyo, there's nothing sour or refreshing about it. It's just a cold boring cream.

The topping variety is big! Unfortunately, the rainbow gummies were rock hard, but anyway.

Now to the biggest disappointment - their Cuberdon syrup, which can be added for free at the end, is labelled as vegan but isn't !!! I asked to take a look at the bottle because somehow my gut feeling told me to. It has Karmin in it, an ingredient dyeing food red, made out of insects. I said "Just to let you know, your cuberdon syrup is labelled as vegan, but actually isn't", the worker there immediately answered with "No, it is", so I explained it to her. No idea if she took me seriously or not. I hope she gave it a second thought and they have removed the V label from the...

The girl that was serving me spoke very little English and replied in Dutch several times to my very standard questions. I expect better from people working in the center of Ghent. The only time she replied to me in English was when I asked her what are the options for vegan toppings, and she replied "You can read it yourself" gesturing to all the toppings available. I consider this to be a very rude response to a legitimate question by the customer. Because of this I just chose what was right in front of me even though I later saw there were far more interesting vegan options that I was not aware of.
