I have never been treated with so much anger and hate as at this place… The guy working at the position of main waiter or manager doesn't know how to behave to people at all. I came to this place and sit myself at the free table(since there was only one girl working in a rush at the bar). I asked her if I could make an order that could be packed as a takeaway, and I asked if I needed to make an order to a person or through the application. She said through the application. I did because at this poule they have a QR code that you can scan and make an order. (the same system of QR code ordering as in other places of Gent, like Ventura and Theresia). Then suddenly from nowhere appeared a main waiter, he was standing at his table and was screaming to me, (I might guess if I want to order smth…) he didn't even come closer (I was sitting at the table that was in 2-2,5 m from him). I don't know how this guy used to work in restaurant business, but usually a waiter come to client. But anyway… As soon as I said that I made already an order ad I am waiting for it , he turned to be mean and mad, run away from me to his table, then to the kitchen… Is it an appropriate behavior ? He started to scream on me “ it is the worst thing you can ever made! People communicate if they go to cafe! Do you know how to be in cafe???? I don't have your order! I don't see your order in line…and so on”…. I needed to stand up go to him and ask for solution,(like to a small offended baby???) Show that I can tell him what was in my order, show confirmation that I paid…. But he was furiously mad, continue screaming on me…. I am sorry, but is it an appropriate behavior towards the client? He made me feel guilty that I came, I made an order, I paid and he can't find it…?!?!? Then why you have QR codes and system of self ordering/paying on your tables ?
During the whole communication I was polite, I thought he might have a busy crazy day, but such a person doesn't deserve understanding at all…. He went to the kitchen and started to tell to everyone how stupid I was, and I don't know how to behave in the cafe… It was just a surrealistic movie… I don't know who he is to offer himself to behave like this, even if he is an owner he won't have many clients after such an attitude….and we have karma in our life that finds you back! I needed to protect and defend myself to him, that I am a client, I paid for service and I can wait until it will be ready, I was up to help to find it… Instead of making a scandal for awful attitude with sreams and yelling towards me! In a proper cafe a waiter would be the one taking care of client, and would tell politely “ that your order is on the way of preparing, we have some problems with online ordering, in this case you need to wait a bit more”…..
There are ways to say different things in a polite way, of course, if you have some proper education and manners. Anyway the story didn't finish… I was waiting for my order, the guy brought it in complete silence, with poker face, just put it on table without saying anything like “sorry for me screaming on you”…or “Here is your order”.
No In terms of polite words/good manners main waiter doesn't know how to behave at all… I said to him “thank you” for bringing my take away order, in respond he didn't even say anything, just looked at me with hate and disgust…wow... So what pleasant !
I will never come to this place , and I will tell to all my friends/colleagues to avoid this place in the city center, of course if they are not fans of paying money for strangers assaulting them . For my amazing review to Poule&Poulette you can be thankful to your waiter who...
Read moreFantastic, amazing and authentic. That is for those whom are stood outside thinking about it.
For those whom want a longer read I will now describe the journey that left us in a plucky mood as we exited the coop.
We were simply stood outside thinking that one? Or this one? Maybe that one? I think it must have happened to most of us. So why did we choose this one? Well because the name is funky and the menu is simple! It is chicken prepared in deferent ways with a side dish. Which can disappoint, however having a simple menu does make it easier to chose.
We sat down, there is a QR code on the table which allows you to order online from your phone, pay from your phone and then they bring it out or, like we did, you can order with the staff. Who are great! Friendly, smiling and not in a rush.
We ordered the drinks which arrived promptly and the food soon followed which lit us on fire, nearly literally. As the waiter brought out the half chickens, they looked delicious! Then put of his pocket he pulls out a lighter and boom! The chicken is on fire!! The skin crisping and crackling it was so mouth watering! So the presentation, looks and smell was fabulous.
The food itself matched the looks, the chicken was succulent, soft and bursting with flavours! The gravy like sauce with it was also brilliant for dipping the chicken or the chips but then, suddenly I remember the small dish of mayonnaise and by the laws of the universe I am happy I did not forget. The chips were nice and crisp with the fluffy inside, the sauce was really light, did not taste greasy, it was like thick whipped cream, finished with that perfect hint of mustard. Just fantastic the hole meal.
The bottom line, the best chicken and chips I have ever eaten! Better than your grandma’s I promise.
So I would absolutely recommend this to anyone in Gent, for authenticity, service, great food at an all important...
Read moreThis place is good for casual dinners, for big groups or small groups because it offers several different seating options. The food concept is that they offer different types of chicken dishes, from Indian style to Korean but of course, this is a restaurant in Flanders so it’s less authentic flavor wise, than if you were to go to an actual Indian restaurant or Korean restaurant for some of the dishes they have on their menu. The waiters were really helpful and friendly. Excellent service. Food wise it wasn’t wow other than the appetizer that I took which was the ‘Korean Fried Sweet & Spicy Chicken’ which was really flavorful and I recommend. They also have this amazing cocktail you should try called a ‘Lazy Red Chick’. It was so good that I had 4 of them hahaha. We were seated in this, I would call, “cage like booth”. I personally felt a bit isolated from absorbing the full atmosphere of the rest of the restaurant and a bit cramped in there design wise. Overall I had a pleasant experience thanks to the waiters, 4 ‘Lazy Red Chick Cocktails’ and the Korean...
