Španski trg u Mostaru predstavlja jedan od najprepoznatljivijih urbanih prostora u gradu, koji nosi snažnu simboliku sjećanja, pomirenja i zajedništva. Ime je dobio 12. oktobra 1995. godine, u čast 21 španskog vojnika iz sastava UNPROFOR-a koji su izgubili živote tokom rata u Bosni i Hercegovini. Trg je zvanično otvoren 29. marta 2012. godine, kada je španski kralj Huan Karlos I, zajedno sa tadašnjim gradonačelnikom Ljubom Bešlićem, otkrio spomenik u znak zahvalnosti španskim vojnicima. Na trgu se nalazi impozantna zgrada Stare gimnazije, izgrađena između 1897. i 1902. godine, koja predstavlja vrijedan primjer arhitekture maurskog preporoda. Arhitekt František Blažek projektovao je ovu građevinu koristeći stilsku kombinaciju andaluzijskih i mamelučkih elemenata, u skladu s tadašnjom austro-ugarskom politikom promoviranja bosanske arhitektonske posebnosti. Rekonstrukcija trga izvršena je 2012. godine uz podršku Španije, UNDP-a i UNESCO-a, s ciljem da se prostor pretvori u savremeno urbano središte namijenjeno okupljanju građana.
