Great place for little ones! My daughter loves trains so this was great. The park and trains are run by volunteers who love what they do. There are several little trains running at once and the "landscape" is supposed to mimic the route of the trains that run here out west. The trains are small - you straddle the train so for little ones - it's secure because they sit between your knees. The trains don't go super fast but it's a pleasant speed for little kids. The ride is just long enough so that it doesn't get boring - you go in loops and under little bridges. It's also fun just to sit and watch the trains go for a bit. There is a little concession stand but there are some picnic tables at a wooden train at the top of the hill. Great place to spend a couple hours.

The staff here are all volunteers and they love their jobs! Our train engineer wore pin striped overalls and an engineer cap. The mini train ride was great for the kids and the adults. The route is worth the wait in line. We went over bridges, through tunnels, up and down hills. There is a model train track too so you can watch the tiny trains go around. There’s a train shaped climbing structure for kids which was fun to climb. There are spots to book for parties and they come with a bbq! The little store has some cool train items like whistles, hats, and a great selection of books. And they make the yummiest popcorn! Love this place! I can’t believe they only charge $3 for a train ride!

My two boys and I had a great time here today! My boys bought some train whistles and we rode the train twice, but easily could've went again. We just found about Iron Horse Park and it was apparently their first day open since the shutdown. I had to wear a mask and follow some arrows but who cares, didn't impact the experience one bit. There was someone arguing briefly with the staff at one point about wearing a mask, but the staff handled him politely and courteously. Also, that was one of the smoothest train rides I've ever been on. All of the machinery and tracks were lovingly maintained, very impressive.

Fantastic little hidden gem in the middle of Airdrie. This is a 1/8th scale model train where rides are a very modest cost. It is meant to simulate the trip from Airdire to Vancouver by train, but with less tunnels. As our engineer put it at the 1/8th scale there would be over 500m of tunnels which is too dark. :)

We drove out from Calgary to check out this spot. The engineers are incredibly friendly and will share all kinds of information if you're at all interested. We learned a bit about some of the trees, different styles of trains, construction and maintenance of the model trains, and more.

We will be back and I would encourage anyone with small kids or who are themselves interested in trains and model trains to go and check it out. From the sounds of it they have lots of plans for this place, just need time and money. I look forward to seeing it progress even further.

You should plan on at least an hour here, but could easily...

Just had our sons first birthday here on a rainy day. Paid a lot. Im super impressed with the volunteers they made us feel welcome abd trued to make the best of a cold rainy day! My guests and i ended up having a great time so i give that a 5*. BUT theres a super rude lady i wont say her nane. Was not friendly or kind. I paid $175 for today and she didnt explain or help me or my guests with directing to where the room was or washrooms etc. We were all waiting for the train in the cold and were held back because she didnt deposit my etransfer nor did she give me our tickets so our train was given to others and we waited longer....didnt apologize or anything. Ruined the good vibe of the place. My guests and i were not impressed with her at all. For this reason it was not worth the $175 and my guests and i will not do birthdays etc here due to her. Just a heads up for future...

First visit today and both my girlfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed it. We are in our 40s and still had a great time. Seeing all the families enjoying themselves was really nice. You can wander the grounds and see everything they have to offer. The wooden play train on the hill for the kids is really well done but simple and safe for the young ones. Most of them playing on it weren't even paying attention to the model trains going by on either side.

We will be back and I will also be joining as I have some live steam engines I inherited from my grandfather that should fit on the smaller track.

This park is a work in progress but has really come a long way from the images currently available on Google Earth. Well done to all the members and volunteers of...
