I had the chance to go to this place yesterday (Tuesday May 14, 2024) with some friends to have some fun, drink a couple of beers and try a few food items. It was not our first time being there and thought it was not going to be the last. Unfortunately, it turned out differently.
We decided to go to this place due to the fact that, according to its website and google, it closes at midnight on a Tuesday.
So we arrived around 9pm, intending to be there for at least 2 hours. The placed was packed since there was a playoff Hockey game. It was around 10 when the game ended and the place started to get empty.
By the time the game ended, we had just ordered our second beer as well as some chips and cheese snack, and a few minutes later, the waitress, who according to the receipt is named Hope, told us they were closing at 11:00pm and it was the last call for food and drinks, so I immediately asked her why they were closing that early even though the website and google showed 12 am as the closing time, and by the way, the door at the entrance states that they close at 1:00 am from Sundays to Wednesdays (picture attached). She replied saying that it is a policy of the restaurant that if there was only a few people, they had to close early, which made me feel that my friends and I are not important for the business, even though we were consuming, and we were intending to consume more. After we received a last order of snacks, we finished the chips, but we still had a good amount of cheese dipping sauce, so we asked if we could get a refill of chips just to finish the sauce, and "Hope" in a very rude manner, replied to us, asking if we had understood that it had been the last call earlier and that the restaurant was closing at 11.
The funny thing is that at least 2 more different consumers came to the restaurant close to 11pm to have a drink or something to eat and they were told that the restaurant was already close and they had to leave, and I repeat, even though it was supposed to be opened until midnight.
That "policy" is mentioned nowhere and it is very sad that a place we use to like has treated us this bad, unfortunately for the restaurant they have lost at least 4 costumers.
The food was good, and the environment was amazing during the hockey game, but all of that gets down with the bad...
Read moreIt is time for an official review Main Street Beer & BBQ formally Standard Tap House. We've been there a few times since the relaunch and here's the high points and low points of our experiences;
The new menu is unbelievably delicous, now I understand you pay for quality, however portions are underwhelming.
The atmosphere is awkward as hell, its like rhinestone, football playing, cowboy finds the disco. Just as Standard Tap House had identity problems so does Main Street Beer and BBQ, they're not sure if they want to be a Texas smokehouse, a sports bar or a dance club. If they were gonna chase the country theme, live music would've been awesome.
If your looking for a venue to watch live sports the TV walls are second to none.
Every time we've been in there, whether for dinner or drinks, the service has been absolutely terrible. Jon Taffer would be losing his bloody mind. Slow, unorganized chaos, and for the wait staff to table ratio...unacceptable. As most of the staff are new, I tried to give them a break but they literally got my first 3 drinks wrong last night, and I didn't think Jack Daniels and Ginger ale was that hard.
My pregnant wife, who was also chauffeuring around our party of 6, ordered a Pepsi, as the night went on she got a refill, and when the bill showed up she got charged for 2 pops, at $4.00 a piece, because they charge by the pop with no refills. She was infuriated, and spoke with the "Manager", I believe his name was Danny, who seemed to be more concerned with his street cred then customer service, who essentially did nothing except tell us to contact him before we return so that our next experience will be better. The bill was paid and she vowed never to return.
In closing I think after the hype dies down of Main Street Beer and BBQ it will fade just as Standard Tap House did. The Exquisite food does not outweigh the terrible service and overpriced beer that this venue boasts not to mention the teeny boppers that show up once the DJ starts up, but hey that is...
Read moreMy guy and I have been here quite a few times and have always been pleased with the food. Service for the most part has been decent aside from the one time we waited 15 minutes for the waitresses to stop visiting and decide who was assigned our table. Tonight was a mistake.
The one good part of this evening was the lovely bar tender who got us started with our drinks. Our waitress however, was slow, passive aggressive and very rude.
My pulled pork sandwich was delicious, however the mac n cheese we ordered was soupy and didn't seem to have any real cheese on it. I also would like to not the real lack of bacon... There was hardly any. Our first glass of water brought to us had white floaties in it... As time passed on, it actually became a swirling white cloud in the water... Yuck. Food took so long to get to us even though it was quite slow this evening. Two of the six tables seated tonight only had ordered drinks. After getting our food and a new water, we decided we would try dessert.
This is the absolute low point of our evening. The peach cobbler looked amazing as far as presentation goes. However once we started to dig in our cobbler part was not even joking... Raw dough. So disappointed. We asked the waitress (tan, dark haired, tattooed) about it, and she admitted she had never had it. She talked to the kitchen staff and they told her that sometimes the moisture from the peaches can cause the cobbler to become soggy. There is a huge difference between soggy and raw. This was definitely raw. Her attitude towards us as paying customers was horrid. We simply scooped the raw dough off and ate the peaches because service was so slow this evening.
We walked away paying for our whole meal, raw cobbler and all. Very disappointed. We will...
