Dorman Point is undoubtedly one of the most captivating destinations Bowen Island has to offer. Located just a short distance from the main dock at Snug Cove, this viewpoint is a natural gem that combines scenic beauty, serenity, and accessibility.
The Path to Paradise The trail to Dorman Point is an experience in itself. With a moderate hike of about 1 kilometer, the path is surrounded by lush forests typical of the Pacific Northwest region. The towering trees and the soft light filtering through the foliage create a peaceful ambiance that accompanies every step. While the route includes some inclines, it is manageable for most visitors, including beginner hikers.
The Viewpoint Upon reaching the lookout, the reward is spectacular. Dorman Point offers panoramic views of Howe Sound, with its crystal-clear waters and surrounding mountains that seem to magically emerge from the horizon. It's an ideal spot to pause, take a deep breath, and enjoy a connection with nature. The silence here, interrupted only by birdsong or the gentle rustle of the wind, has a restorative effect.
A Place for Reflection Beyond the view, Dorman Point invites introspection. It's the perfect place to bring a book, a journal, or simply enjoy a moment of tranquility away from the city's hustle and bustle. Visiting at sunrise or sunset will leave you speechless with the colors of the sky reflected on the water.

Read moreOne of my favorite spots in Bowen! It's absolutely stunning and a must-visit! Just a heads up, parking is super limited, so plan accordingly. I went around 10 AM, and it wasn't too crowded—just two other cars. The path to the viewpoint is short but seriously steep. Wear proper footwear or you'll struggle to keep your grip on the uphill climb. Don't bring too much stuff, as you'll need your hands to hold onto trees and branches for support. There’s some beautiful views at the top. If you want an even better unobstructed view…when you're at the top, take the path on the right that slopes down. At the bottom, you'll find an unobstructed viewpoint with no trees in the way. It's pure beauty! I spent a good 40 minutes soaking up the incredible views. So serene and absolutely...

It’s worth it for the beautiful view and relatively flat area to relax. There are also benches that you can sit at when you reach the top.
