I no longer visit this library due to the fact that their policies regarding public, non students are being restricted to 4 hours time limit to the computers and now library access is controlled by turnstile- like gates. Somehow this is the result of the stuff that went on at the university recently. I'm so done with libraries in general. In some cases I paid for subscriptions to some of the platforms, which I can do at home and more in the comfort of my home office. What bothers me is visitors get treated like criminals, you have to book an appointment for some computer time. The staff are very curt and abrupt to point of rudeness. There is a small room with about 10 PCs and some of the other people there looking at others screens including the one I'm using. Also don't forget your ID, they (campus security) will escort you off the university property. This is why I quit going to this library. It's not...
Read moreA modernized, go-to place for studying, interacting, and whatever else you do as a university student. All 6 floors offer great places to study; I find the 4th floor computer labs (when they’re open) to be consistently a good option. It is recommended to avoid the 1st and 3rd floors from 12-2 if you’re looking for a quieter place study. Another good option is to book a workroom through the U of C website; these are great for group study sessions, but do so ~1 week in advance, for bookings are often busy (especially when midterms start). The one and only complaint I have is purely that it’s a library used by university students. Some of us aren’t the most courteous when it comes to noise or cleaning up their workspace after they’re done, which is to be expected. Final word of advice/psa: floors 4-6 are dedicated silent areas. Don’t be that guy who ruins it...

The washrooms have no exhaust fans. The urinals get clogged and they just put clear plastic bags over them and let them sit for hours or even days. The result is a bathroom that smells like stale piss. There is urine all over the floor so it is sticky. This has been an ongoing problem for over a year.
The electrical outlets have been screwed shut, so it is difficult to find a table where you can plug your laptop in. They tables in the cafeteria are too sparse. There could be twice as many tables in the area.
Basically you have a large dirty building, with a lot of wasted space, and the most disgusting washrooms on campus. I would be ashamed to have this building named...
