This place is truly magical! 🤩 I was a little nervous driving downtown and dealing with parking, but things went really well!
I wasn't expecting to go down a few flights of stairs, but it was really cool! Almost secretive! The bar in the lounge had themed drinks for the play we saw, and there were snacks too!
The curtain just screams theatre! We saw Clue, and holy moly I was transported through time. I loved the movie with Christopher Lloyd and Tim Curry! Also my favorite board game! The cast payed a great homage to both medias.
Miss Scarlet 🥵, Wadsworth and Mrs. Peacock 🤣 completely stole the show for me! Not saying that anyone else wasn't spectacular, but their attitudes and how "in character" they were for the whole performance was incredible! Mrs. Peacock was soooo over dramatic that you couldn't help believing she was truly crazy! 🤯
Colonel Mustard was hilarious, dumb as a stick and pervy which was exactly how I'd imagine him! Mr. Green and Professor Plum (I loved the cheekiness of the costumes 😂 "If you say so!"🤷♂️) were also hilarious and filled the room with their presence. The actress playing Ms. White did a great job with staying mysterious and making you believe she really was a black widow.
Yvette was cheeky and hilariously oblivious. The actress also interacted slightly with the audience when changing sets and it was adorable!
The Cook/Cop/Singing Telegram Girl... ect could not have gotten higher praise from me! She was so absurd and hilarious and ridiculously overdramatized. I loved every second of it! She was able to keep in character when things didn't quite go according to script. I would actually say all the ladies and Professor Plum did an astounding job ad libbing, and staying in character regardless of hiccups.
This venue is top notch for theatre! The seating was fantastic! Staff and volunteers were all friendly and helpful. The seats were so comfortable! Would gladly come back here, time and time again!
I also have to say set design was ON POINT! Like damn! The rotating cupboards and doors and rooms made changing scenes nearly seamless! I have never been so thrilled and excited for a set that preforms as well as that did! The fact that it was completely controlled by the actors is also super efficient...

We’ve been long time season ticket holders, and Vertigo has historically been one of our favourite date night traditions. For years, the programming was consistently excellent - there was rarely a show that we didn’t love. Unfortunately, since the new artistic director took over, things have been going downhill.
The past couple of seasons have been VERY hit and miss. A Killing at La Cucina was one of the worst productions I have ever seen in any format. And The Extractionist - whose idea was it to tell half a story? Why stage a play with no conclusion? It felt unfinished and unsatisfying. These were just a couple of the low points, but sadly, there have been others.
We weren’t planning to renew our season tickets for the 2025/2026 season, but decided a couple of weeks ago to give Vertigo one last shot. They had such a good thing going, why mess with it?? My in-laws and their friends (who introduced us to Vertigo) have decided not to renew and won’t be returning.
For context, we are in our early thirties - on the younger side of Vertigo’s audience. If the recent changes were intended to appeal to a new generation of theatre-goers, I think they missed the mark.
Really hoping next season turns things around, we will miss Vertigo if it doesn’t.
My Review from 2019 - 5 STARS We’re season ticket holders.. I am obsessed with a good mystery, and Vertigo always delivers! The staff are all so friendly, and there’s not a bad seat in the house. They also create a signature cocktail for each of the plays they put on, and it’s always something tasty/...
Read moreWe have had season tickets throughout the years. Unfortunately 24/25 will be our last. Murder on the Links was fun and well produced. The acting was great. The choices for the other plays were horrendous. After watching A Killing At La Cucina, I couldn't bother wasting another afternoon and we skipped the last one. The staff and volunteers are always lovely. I wish their website would have a place for comments so I wouldn't have to publicly write a bad review for a local theatre I wish I could support. We were slightly debating giving it another shot but I googled some reviews of the first play at another city and I got this "Prince Gomolvilas’ The Brothers Paranormal is a play that is not ready to be produced or even printed out. The writing has the quality of a mediocre rough draft, painfully lacking in narrative structure, depth, and...
