⛸️ Experience Calgary's Olympic Plaza Ice Rink:
Nestled in the heart of downtown Calgary, this rink exudes a captivating charm that's hard to resist.
We were pleased to find that the rink was still open, offering a unique sunny skating experience. Despite the warmth and a few puddles near the edges, the opportunity to skate comfortably in t-shirts was a refreshing surprise, adding to the allure of our visit.
The sheer size of the rink struck me immediately, spanning over 17,000 square feet, offering ample space for skaters of all ages and skill levels.
Surrounded by towering skyscrapers and framed by the majestic backdrop of the Calgary Tower, skating at Olympic Plaza provided unparalleled city views that were simply epic. It's a fantastic way to experience the vibrant spirit of Calgary while gliding across the ice.
The facilities at the rink are top-notch, with rental skates available for those who don't have their own. There are also benches and seating areas where skaters can take a break and warm up with a hot beverage from the nearby concessions.
One of the highlights of our visit was discovering the rich history behind the rink. As the site of the medal ceremonies during the 1988 Winter Olympics, the Olympic Plaza Ice Rink holds a special place in Calgary's sporting legacy. It's a testament to the city's enduring passion for winter sports and its commitment to fostering a vibrant community spirit.
The groundhog wall was a hit with the kids, who gleefully posed with many of them, adding an extra layer of fun and whimsy to our outing.
Overall, our experience at Calgary's Olympic Plaza Ice Rink was nothing short of enchanting. Whether you're a seasoned skater or just looking for a fun outing with friends and family, this iconic rink is a must-visit destination. With its picturesque setting, excellent facilities, warm hospitality, and sunny adventures, it's no wonder that the Olympic Plaza Ice Rink remains a beloved winter oasis in the heart of Calgary. 🇨🇦

Read moreI've come to this city of Calgary 3years ago, and my first on experience of downtown was straight at the O.P (Olympic Plaza) right downtown.
It's located easily for the public to access it without problem, cannot be missed.
First stop of City Hall Station or Bus Stops, basically beside/across Tim Hortons, Calgary Central Library and City Hall.
Putting aside the wanderers of the streets, this area is suitable for all ages, from a Hangout to bringing someone on a Date and checking out the view simply.
You can find wildlife as, birds and squirrels here, I've noticed over the years that people come as families often.
On the plus side, the Olympic Plaza offers Events of all sorts which brings people from all over the place together to enjoy what the city has to bring as free entertainment bfor all ages.
It is a Safe area, with the authority roaming around every so often to assure that it's people are safe & sound.
Summer timebyou can also enjoy the gigantic fountain like foot deep pool as to refresh yourself or splash around with your Kids or friends and during the cold winter they have entertainment such as the famous Bonhomme with live music that follow as participating in activities and even Ice Skating that the Olympic Plaza offers right there directly to the public to rent if you fprgot or just have not gotten the chance to buy some.
Overall, nice sceneries, safe, eventful, and convenient to access anything else you need.
Let's not forget as it's one of the main Mustard Point for our fellas Pokemon Catchers, with all it's Pokestops & generous Pokemon spawning.
Cheers & hope that if you taken the time to read this, that it...
Read moreI used Olympic plaza to tear out soft grass clumps with which I used to try and scrub the 2 cans of bear spray a couple of Calgary entrepreneurs used to shoot me in the face with in broad daylight by Lotus cafe. , conviently located a 5 minute stumble blind walk away;2 blocks from Cowboys Casino. It was a warm late fall weekend. By the time I arrived trying not to scream too loudly from the burning intense agony, I had removed my shirt to wipe the rivers of snot streaming from my nose. Luckily my week old I phone valued at $1064 had been stolen by the 2 young men who gave me the refreshing facial wash so I was able to crawl to the water fountain and blast my face with a jet. It did nothing to alleviate what I thought at the time would be permanent blindness. I cried and writhed in agony for close to 30 minutes until the pain subsided and I was able to pull myself away from Calgarys park monument to the Olympic spirit. Thanks to all the friendly and polite Canadians d on route and in the park for not bothering me with awkward offers of assistance or questions. Not one was offered by anyone enroute or otherewise. I managed to stumble home the additional 4 miles with no further excitement. CPS was very helpful in having me journal my Calgary park fun in a report which they promptly did nothing with. I highly recommend it. Not the park through, nor the City Hall a Ross's the street from it, nor the people in the City. I would recommend acoiding all of the above mentioned at any cost. 5 star...
