We rode the train to see Santa Claus, and it was a disappointment. Santa was not very upbeat. My daughter said it was not the real Santa Claus and I agreed with her. It was not very believable for the little ones there was no ho ho ho or laughter or fun. He also made a comment that she would go on the naughty list because she brought her elf on the shelf in a jar to see Santa Claus. She didn’t appreciate that. The Christmas music on the train you could barely hear it. We did this years ago and it was much better. The train would stop and you would get off to see Santa and take pictures. All they gave you was a candy cane and a colouring page. Other places in London It’s cheaper and they give something a little nicer to the kids. I would not recommend this and I would never do it again. Waste of money. Also, there were kids on the train, misbehaving, yelling and horsing around and their parents didn’t say anything. Ruins the experience for others. The conductor was very nice though and he did explain that they volunteer for this, which is nice. However, we did pay $65 for three people to ride the train and...
Read moreHad a wonderful 1 hour long family train ride, the conductor gave some history over the intercom as we passed each former stop, passed through some nice scenery. Stopped at Whytes Park where they had some exhibits to check out, photo ops and to stretch your legs.
Service was exceptional, we had originally booked a family excursion of seven and had to postpone that, the procedure was flawless and professional. Rebooked for a group of three a couple weeks later and can use the rest for a credit at a later date.
Completely volunteer-run, well organized.
You can see how they put a lot of time into updating the rails and the train, the ordering system which is all computer-based. And there's a nice gift shop with lots of selection.
They also have special rides throughout the season, such as live music on your ride, the Christmas train ride and other special events.
Can rent the caboose for $300 for a group of 24 peoplle, if I...
Read moreLovely little train. Conductor friendly and approachable. Slow paced gentle ride. Very pretty route, especially due to swaths of purple flox through the forest. ( Early June). Saw deer in the woods. Farm workers and Port residents waved from backyards. Like a ride in a favorite children's movie. Was sunny and warm but would have been just as enjoyable in the rain, a nice alternative to keeping the kids indoors. Would also be beautiful outing in the Fall. Parking and washrooms ( which could have been cleaner) at the station. No washrooms on train but train itself was very clean and well maintained. Refreshments available from convenience store across the road. Original step mounts to train so not handicapped accessible. Overall a very pleasant and relaxing hour. Would...
