We had been to this restaurant on a few occasions in the past. The meal and the dining were wonderful . So when we decided to come stay in Port Stanley again of course we made a reservation to go to Solo on Main. Reservations were made well in advance. When we arrived we were seated next to the bar . It wasn’t the most pleasant atmosphere certainly not what we were expecting ESPECIALLY since we had made a reservation. The patio was closed due to rain. I think all reservations went inside so they could still accommodate people. It was VERY VERY DISAPPOINTING! We were expecting the same atmosphere in the dining room as in the past . However this was not the case this time. What a damper on our little birthday getaway. The meal was nothing to write home about. The manager was kind and comped our meal. Our meal wasn’t expensive because we had been disappointed and didn’t want to stay long. We sat by a window and the view was a wooden fence. Not so wonderful .

I do have to say that our server was very polite . That was the only great thing about our visit. If we were to come into the area again I’d maybe give it another shot just to see how we would be treated on a different day. Hopefully like in the past not this current time. Like I said in the past in the dining room we had a very pleasant visit. The food was great the service was wonderful. However a different case this time . I don’t mind paying top dollar when we are served with dignity and pride. It was so very sad to experience this on my mom’s birthday get away. Thank goodness the rest of the trip was GREAT!!! I wish them success however to be respectful and say ok dining room is full would you like to wait 15 minutes until we can give you a spot in the dining room. Apparently they have a 2 hour window to dine. Thats all I’m saying is due onto others like you’d like...

Atmosphere on the patio ** Food * Price $$$ Service *

Although this is a beautiful location (we had a direct view of the channel and watched boats come in and out all night), and the food was absolutely delicious! (We shared the wings and the Cauliflower Croquettes as appetizers, and had the Perch & Flank Steak as our mains). I was very disappointed in the service....we made a reservation in advance, and were seated right away, but we did not receive water or menus for 30 mins - which in the heat on the patio was a LONG time! We eventually received a glass of water each and menus. We had to grab our own pitcher of water for the table, and waited 40 mins for our first drink, an hour for the appetizers, and 1.5 hours for our main. I was never asked how I'd like my steak cooked, and it came out medium * I prefer rare to medium rare *. Even though it wasn't cooked to my preference, it was still enjoyable. The food truly was delicious. Because of the wait times, and how hungry we were, we only managed to get a picture of our drinks and view. Our waitress did acknowledge that there was some miscommunication when we were first seated and apologized for the wait, but I was disappointed that we didn't hear from a manager at all (table touches are important in this industry).

We're willing to give this place another shot, because you really can't beat quality, and I think we just had a fluke poor...

Was in Port Stanley with a friend, we were looking for a spot for a quiet drink, hoped this establishment would fit the bill..unfortunately I will not be coming back to this business based on the welcome.

There had been heavy rain earlier so most of the patio was wet and unoccupied however there is a porch wrapping the building where there were some dry tables. We went inside spoke to a waitress asked if we could sit at the tables on the porch we had just walked along and have drinks. She claimed the tables were all wet, I explained there were two close to the door we just walked in through that were dry. She had to speak to the manager first???? Returned with a statement that they couldn't seat us on the porch as the porch was a slip hazard for the waitresses. Never mind the fact that we the patrons had just walked across the same floor ...a dry floor. If there is a slip hazard in the wet should it then not be posted for all entering, I guess our safety isn't as much of a concern as it is for the staff. When I was told it was to wet for the poorly footed staff I opened the door pointed at the dry tables and dry floor and stated it was dry to which the waitress shrugged her shoulders and said she couldn't help us

Poor, poor unwelcoming customer service. Based on the other low reviews I can concur poor service and not a place to frequent, find...

A diverse and thoughtful menu curated using seasonal, local and fresh ingredients that is executed well. Filling portions and great quality at the price points. Service was good and the vibe and setting very nice. As much as our party of four enjoyed our entire experience, I personally won’t be coming back given the parking situation and gouging at the municipal lot nearby. I have no problem with a reasonable charge during their high season but by the time you add in the cost of fuel, a day trip to “The Port” is no longer in the cards for me. Had we not been meeting another couple for lunch I would have canceled our reservation and continued elsewhere. Certainly not the restaurant’s fault but the municipal cash grab has turned this tourist off for good.

We had the pleasure of dining here for our anniversary. The gentleman who served us was hilarious and so friendly! The menu itself accommodates all dietary restrictions. I am vegetarian and couldn't decide on what to order they all sounded amazing! I ordered the pasta feature which was a creamy cajun pasta. It was so fresh and delicious!!! The only issue of the night was that there was an extremely loud table that was blasting music on their phone, throwing their receipts, and screaming that they needed more wine. It was a little distracting since I couldn't hear my partner over this party yelling. However, this isn't the restaurants fault and they deserve 5 stars for service and amazing food! Can't wait to come back again!!

What a lovely little spot in downtown port Stanley! You will want to make reservations so you’re not disappointed! We had the scallops to start and oh my they melted in your mouth and were so delicious. Our mains were the rack of lamb with a Demi glaze, and the kimchi teriyaki steak both were great but the lamb was mouthwatering and couldn’t get enough. The food was fresh, well made and plated. An amazing dining experience. We will definitely be coming back again. This is a little hidden gem and so happy we fell upon it!
