The care and love that has been taken to present our military aviation heritage at this museum is simply astounding. The volunteers and board have worked over time to make this museum a delight to visit.
Before I dive too deep into the review, I had Chris greet me as I entered this free museum (note that I did not see a place to donate or I would have). He showed me around and gave me a thumbnail sketch of the layout. As a former aircraft mechanic and general history buff I think he sensed I would like to explore on my own.
However, he was sure to show me the cut-a-way of the Wright radial engine used on the Argus and Neptune and that one display made my day. I love cut-away exhibits opening the engine or device to view its inner workings. He shared the operation of the exhibit (it had to be brief to insure the integrity of the engine) so one could see the complexity of how an advanced radial engine works.
I will not bore you with the intimate details of my visit. The museum is well laid out and if one takes the time, one can get a fuller idea of the efforts and sacrifices of our men and women of our armed forces exhibit every day of their service to our country.
After the indoor portion was able to connect with Chris and see the inside to the Labrador, Challenger, and C-130.
Simply a great day made better by Chris and the other staff at the museum.
Thank you everone.
PS: Well done and congratulation on your promotion Chris. I wish I was able to attend...
Read moreWow. If you like planes, this is a little powerhouse of a museum. I am amazed by the fabulous restorations accomplished by a crew of volunteers. Job well done guys! I had the good fortune to go inside the Herky bird and I enjoyed walking through the training module of the Argus. The collection may be small compared to other aviation museums but what was important is that on display are planes important to Canada’s maritime command. My favorite was the Bolingbroke in the process of being restored but I did some drooling while gazing up at the Lancaster. I finally got up close to the Argus. She is a big bird! The propellor is as long as me! And if you are the type who can spend hours reading the exhibit display boards, you will be happily educated by the informative displays. My thanks to the guide although I do not...

I went in with zero expectations and only a passing interest in military aircraft, eg: i know what a Lancaster bomber is.
This place is a hidden gem! It is one of those museums that is packed with little artifacts in glass cases, well done static displays, great photography and artwork, along with plenty of real things that you can touch and interact with.
Most in importantly the bravery and courage of the men and women who have served King and country from the second world war...
