Located between Brunette Ave and Lougheed Highway, and Marymount and ** is Makin Park. This park is quite large and has many individual areas of use, there are five baseball/soccer/football fields with one field specially dedicated to youth softball with a clubhouse attached. The four lower fields are supplied with a nice concession stand and a massive electronic score board. They have transformed this park many times before and are currently in the process of doing it again (Sept 2017) A few years ago they added a nice skate bowl and trick park, and there has been a water park for summer use in the park for awhile. If you'd rather not use the fields and play a different sport there are a four tennis courts in one corner. Every year since I can remember they've held the French Festival du Bois at the park. It's a long standing tradition, excellent food and some cool shows take place, fun for the whole family. Along the border of the park is a walking trail that many people walk their dogs on during the day. And a park wouldn't be a park without the playground. The only thing I think that's missing would be a zip line. Maybe that's what's there will be putting in. There are also two bathrooms open daily but they do lock the doors at night. Overall it's a very good park, with ample space for many different groups to use at once. Parking can be a little tight with only a dozen spots in the upper most part of the park and around 35 spots in the lower parking area. Go check it...
Read morei have been skating here since the day it opened in 2012 and have watched multiple gens come and go, as a firm believer thats the skate in skatepark stands for skateboard, i do not quite comprehend why the Karens and Chads bring their " kiddies " to the "bike/scoot" area who sit on the obstacles, get in the way because theyre too young to comprehend these areas work in a your turn, my turn manner, etc. Also what is with the picnics? there will always be boards and foul language flying around at a skateboard park. yall have a whole park, a whole field to throw frisbees walk your dog whatever you Karens do, and Rocky Point is a 10 minute drive, with a thousand more amenities. Take your kids somewhere else. Here i leave a name and a picture so if youve read this and see me at the skatepark id love to have a chat about this.. that being said, rocky point is a 10 minute drive, you also have buntzen, white pine, tons of other parks with fields within a 15km radius. Why do you buy your kid a scooter? is he disabled? afraid hes too useless to ride one without handle bars? are you afraid of the world? just snowflakes. why isnt your kid at school or at home watching blues clues?...
Read moreI like this park. There's a nice playground for the toddlers and adolescents. An adequate spray park in summer. A big well maintained field. 3 parking lots! Public washrooms for men and women. Its located right across the street from Canadian Tire, Staples, gas including propane for bbqs, Dairy Queen, Browns social house, Superstore, IKEA Two dollar stores and so.much more! Man the more I talk about it the better it sounds lol!!!
My absolute favorite feature of Mackin Park though is the track around the field that cuts through the playground, passes behind the baseball diamond as well as the washrooms. I have enjoyed many walks here. Although dogs are allowed and it's a pleasure to see that dog owners are diligent in picking up after themselves.
So to sum it up, go check out this park when you're in the area, especially on a...
