Worst experience EVER!
Never use Taskrabbit.
We ordered a bunch on Besta cabinets for our dining room a lower large unit and a mallet top unit. Glass doors shelves and booked an “experienced” Tasker 5 star rating $60hr he was booked to do this job as well as some shelves upstairs for 6hrs. He showed up and didn’t have the right tools. He took 12 hrs and had my girlfriend helping him all day. I got home from work to help him finish the job but he didn’t have time to do the shelves.
We had paid thousands for the cabinets and thought IKEA’s recommended installer Task Rabbit would do a good job a safe job. We even bought extra suspension rails. The unit was on the wall for a couple days then it came crashing down and almost crushed my girlfriend. Glass shattered and went everywhere. The top unit came down, took out the bottom unit wrecked the dinning table the floor and all the screws ripped out of the drywall. All of this was right before Christmas and we had plans to have family over. Dishes broken, mixer, food processor, kettle and all Christmas decorations all broken.
Then we tried to reach out to TaskRabbit to get the units safely removed. 2 Tasker’s bailed as soon as they were booked and found out the job. No one in customer service even gave us the time of day or a curtesy call. Finally we were able to book a Tasker to come out. He was shocked to see all the damage and said the suspension rails were not used correctly at all. The unit was not assembled correctly or level. He helped us take everything down and out to the truck to be thrown away.
Now we are almost 3 months in with no resolution. We have emailed and emailed and sent all receipts, pictures and quotes. Still no fix no refund and no compassion.
At last communication they sound like they will pay for the IKEA Besta units but not the cost of the install that was done wrong and unsafe. They want us to go after the Tasker for that and he is not retuning our calls and we have no way of contacting him.
There are still holes in the wall, the floor and we have...
Read moreKitchen Countertop Update Aug 20, 2023** IKEA Refunded me 50% of the price of the countertops and 50% of the price of the stove. Paragon is terrible at communicating with customers, when something goes wrong If you want to purchase your countertops from IKEA, read this review before doing so. If you purchase your countertops from IKEA, be aware that Paragon Surfacing takes over the contract and you have no choice in the matter. I purchased my countertops from IKEA and Paragon installed them in my kitchen. They made a mistake and my range doesn’t fit in. The width of my brand new LG range is slightly larger where the key panel is, but the template technician didn’t consider this. He only measured the middle of the range. I emailed the office and asked them to come and fix it. Two technicians came to my house with no nametags, no uniforms, clothes with no company logo, and no protective layer underneath their shoes. They walked all over my brand new floor with dirty shoes. Before I know, they pushed the range all the way in. I showed them the dark marks on both sides of the white countertop from the edge all the way back to the wall, after they pulled the range back out. It was the black paint coming off from both sides of the range. When he saw me upset he told me, “Why are you worried about the black marks? You won’t see them, when range is in”. I became more upset. They tried to clean the marks off by a cleaning agent. Our discussion escalated and they suddenly left my house leaving the range in the middle of the kitchen. Outside I asked for their names but they said they had no names. I tried to take their pictures to prove they were in my house, but one of them told me to “get the f… out of my face” and “go f… yourself”. Their office emailed me the same day and was very defensive about the whole thing. After I sent them two emails, they stopped communicating. These two photos were taken after the technicians pushed the range in and pulled...
Read moreI love IKEA, living within 5 minutes from the Coquitlam store is a big plus. Two years ago we furnished an entire room for our grandchildren, all IKEA items. To the point: bought two fitted plastic mattress protectors, very inexpensive but extremely useful since grandkids are still young. Today, September 2nd I went to get two more of those protectors for an additional room. I went through 4 different sales associates, before the last one, Matthew at the bed showroom area. I hope I am accurate about his name. Delightful, helpful, very apologetic young man. He didn't have to apologize but took it personally as he represents his company. At the linen area, I asked the 1st associate where I could find the fitted mattress cover, she took me to the area, I didn't see the specific one I was looking for. I came back to her station and further explained what exactly I was looking for, and, I commented I had bought some less than 2 years ago. I wish I had gotten her name, very short hair, Caucasian lady, Im only describing her in case she happens to read this review, and remembers how frustrated I was at her response, and at my inability to find the product. It pays to be empathetic. She lectured me on how long she's been working there, 8 years, and never has seen those fitted covers, all while she kept working on her computer. 2 sales associates later, Matthew, at the bed area showroom, and my last resource, he immediately looked for inventory on his computer, and tried his best to show me similar products, he explained that it was possible the ones I was looking for were discontinued. How simple was that? I thanked him and commented on how helpful he had been, in my frustration I complained to him about the "8 year employee" sales associate, for whom he apologized. This is merely a venting review, I didn't buy anything today, but will not let that lady's rudeness determine my future IKEA buying habits. Thankyou Matthew, I hope this position is a stepping stone for you, with your attitude you...
