I want everyone to know that this was an outstanding experience. The Culinary Manager Vanessa Hamilton took care of my friend’s needs, pertaining to a food allergy. As well the food was amazing, the service from Derrick was excellent, the drinks were on point, meaning very good, and the reservation was flawless. We started with virgin drinks: Mojito, Margaritas, and Caeser, all fantastic going well with their delicious bread. Then we moved on to five (5) appetizers and a salad. Each of the appetizers were made to perfection and were delicious to the taste. My personal favorite was the bacon wrapped scallops. However, the Calamari, Crispy Cauliflower, Neptune Caps and the Escargot’s were all very good. My friend with food sesame seed allergies loved the blue cheese on her iceberg wedge salad. Lastly, our mains were outstanding. I had the 18oz Prime Rib thrown on the grill for a little char medium rare. I was warned that the horseradish was very hot, it was and it was very good. I loved the twice baked potato and side veggies. It was so good. My friend with the food allergy had the chef create a dish without sesame and chef hit it out of the park. The others had Fillet Mignon with Baked Potato and side; Blue Cheese Crusted Fillet with Baked Potato and Veggies, Sirloin and Baked potato with veggies and the 20oz bone-in Rib Steak. All were cooked to perfection with the Rib Steak just past the mark. However, no complaints as it was delicious. The food flowed perfectly and there was a nice rhythm to drinks, bread, ordering, appetizers, drinks, eating, ordering, and eating. The restaurant was medium full and still quiet; it was perfect for visiting and making cheers. We were so full we did not have room for dessert. We all commented on the whole wonderful experience and would all recommend this place to everyone. I will definitely be back.

Recently, I had the opportunity to dine at The Keg in Surrey, a restaurant known for its steak and traditional Canadian cuisine. My experience, however, left much to be desired. From the moment we arrived, the service and food quality were underwhelming, ultimately leading me to recommend a different establishment for future Upon arriving at The Keg, we were met with a less-than-welcoming reception. The host, who appeared disinterested, brusquely informed us that we would need to find our own table. This lack of hospitality set a negative tone for the evening. In a restaurant that prides itself on a high-end dining experience, the initial encounter with staff should reflect courtesy and attentiveness, which was evidently lacking. Moving past the unwelcoming reception, we hoped that the food would redeem the experience. Unfortunately, this was not the case. Our party ordered a variety of dishes, with steaks being the highlight. However, two out of the three steaks ordered were significantly undercooked. While we understand that mistakes happen, especially in a busy kitchen, the way the situation was handled was less than satisfactory. When we pointed out the issue to our server, they did promptly offer to refire the steaks. However, aside from the correction, there was no additional effort made to rectify the inconvenience. An apology was given, but no compensation or gesture of goodwill was offered

Edit: Oct. 3, 2025 I was invited to join friends for Happy Hour (4-6pm, 9-closing). We arrived at 4:30 and seated in a booth in the lounge area. Service by Chhaya was excellent and for anyone wondering she confirmed The Keg accommodates shared plates. We shared: HH Three Pepper Wings $15 HH Baked Brie $15 Escargot $15 HH Scallops & Bacon $13 They ordered drinks: HH Caesar $7 HH Blasted Church Syrah (9oz) $15 All delicious and what you’d expect of the Keg. —————————————————————- Booked reservations online as per Covid procedures. A staffer checked us in at the door then entered to be seated in the bar area with plenty of social distance. I think they are not using the whole restaurant to limit staff in the food prep and pick-up areas as well to provide timely service on top of all the sanitizing practices being observed. Menus and tables are being sanitized between guests and we felt absolutely comfortable dining in. The appetizers and meals were delicious as usual, service top notch with all staff wearing masks. We come for the prime rib and it did not disappoint. While pricy, the splurge for a special occasion or other, is worth it. We have been to quite a few different locations and have never been disappointed at this one. Located in an area with retail stores so ample parking.

This is about the 4th year we have been going there and in the last 2 it was extremely dissapointing. It is not that it is the Keg like that, it is the location. Willingdon, Park Royal one or in Whistler village even are the best locations in every way. But this surrey location is very dissapointing. Last year and so is this they are doing it confusing way with the stake. Every other restaurant I went before and ordered stake medium rare, and it was a perfection. Pink inside. When you cut it you may have a little bloody juice come out but not much, just perfect. Here in this location if you order medium rare it will be red in the middle. It will be not medium rare, it will be just rare... just this location. So I had to order medium and hope for the best and it was just like medium rare everywhere else. So that is a big warning for those who like medium rare stakes. This year we don't know what happen but they had such a bad atmosphere there. The lighting was all wrong, disorienting even, it was loud as if you are in a public lunch room with tons of people and music was loud as well. We couldn't hear each other at one table we were sitting at we had to raise our voices as if we are in the club of some sort. Then we waited for the food for 50 minutes to get to us. It should have been one out dinner and turned out to be 2. They brought one appetizer ordered by half of the party some time in the middle of the waiting but not the other appetizer ordered by the other person till all the food was brought eventually. Then when they did so the first time, the brought two tiny forks for one escargot, which is great - two people share it and all good. The second escargot when it arrived for my husband to have with French onion soup he didn't got a fork. My mom wanted to live even before the food got there and it was her birthday. So I had to cancel cake slice, then dad talked us into staying and having a slice of cake and I reordered that one... but we were extremely happy getting out of there the moment cake was over and the bill was paid. The quietness outside near a busy road and fresh air was a bliss from the sky. A good restaurant should never feel like that. And I thought it was just me but mom kept saying she wants to run from there. The atmosphere there was just so bad and the loud music and people it was way too overwhelming and disorienting for 3 out of 4 adults at our table. So we will definitely not come back to that location again that is for sure. We weren't even going to give it a chance this year because we wanted a Hillingdon location but we booked too late for a 8 people group and the willingdon was booked already and 2 people didn't make it and it was too late to switch locations. But we would just reserve next time earlier at Willington or somewhere...

Very dissapointed in the service last night. We were there for a birthday dinner and we came about 10 mins after everyone else had arrived. They had their drinks, even had ordered their appies. The server didn't say hi to us when she came up to the table, she just said the dinner specials..very quickly, so quick none of us caught them. Said her name is... Btw she added. Oddly done. I asked if i could order a drink first- this annoyed her. I guess because she had a way of doing it? She wanted dinner orders only. Ordered my drink. She came back with it..meantime appies arrived for everyone, so i asked if i could order an appy..felt like i was begging 😞 asked for fresh bread, as there was one cold piece left. She was taking dinner orders, i asked to wait as i wanted my appy first, seperate, this seemed to bother her too. She said your appy will be up shortly, she was frustrated i didn't want to order my dinner yet. I insisted though and the birthday girl had to back me up and agreed yes, appies first, dinner orders can wait. I said to the server we aren't in a rush. I was catching up with everyone ,didn't get a chance to peek at the menu. I felt like she was trying to get us fed & out of there in record time. It's a birthday..we wanted to enjoy ourselves. The Keg has always been known for that. I was a server years ago, Keg trained. It's not at all how i would of looked after a party table. No offer of picture taking (of the group) was served one drink.. She never asked if she could bring another..food was cold. Really dissapointing. Others in the party commented how she just flew past the table & was hard to catch, it was not that busy either. She was unorganized & disheveled. Maybe she just isn't good at working a party? A small one..she may be better with 4-6 ppl max. I wish servers now had the proper training, so they could give the experience one expects when dining out. I felt like a nuisance. Kind of a shame when your spending that...
