I’m really upset about how my mom was treated today. She has a hard time carrying groceries home so she has her OWN cart that she uses. She left it inside by the door, since you’re not allowed to take your own cart inside, while you shop. When she came back, it was gone—someone had taken it. She was already stressed, and instead of helping or even showing a little kindness, the staff just coldly told her it was “store policy” and not their problem. They didn’t care at all, and the way they spoke to her was just rude.
What made this even more hurtful is that my mother is also Persian/Canadian same as all the workers and store owners and in our culture, treating people with kindness and respect is so important. The way they dismissed her, like she didn’t matter, was honestly a disgrace. No one deserves to be treated that way, especially a woman who was just trying to do her shopping. She left feeling embarrassed and frustrated, and honestly she didn’t care about her cart being lost she was just upset at how they treated her so badly.
Mistakes happen, but how a business handles them says everything. A little compassion would have gone a long way, but instead, they made her feel like she didn’t belong. This management is a disgrace to the Persian community in north...
Read moreI've done my shopping at Persia Foods and few times in the last couple years. Never again will I return back to do any shopping for this business.
I was at the Marine Dr location just to pick up bread and rice. I had previously went a few blocks down to do another shopping run prior to Persia Foods.
As I completed my purchase, I was stopped at the door by loss prevention staff to check my shopping and demanded my receipts. I dug into my mini backpack to grab them.
I've never had that type of experience from any other grocery store and smaller local grocery businesses to demand in checking my shopping bag. I left the store feeling like I was a criminal thief. Also, I sensed some sort of discrimination. I did not at all have a pleasant shopping experience from that type of treatment. I felt humiliated and degraded going home.
I only gave one star for affordable produce. If you want inexpensive produce at Persia Foods, by all means but if you expect staff to treat you with human dignity you won't get it at that particular business. I will not and refuse to support their business at all.
Anyway, there are other competitive and local Persian Grocers who will gladly accept my business without...
Read moreI had bought four boxes of unsalted chickpeas a few weeks ago. When I opened them, I noticed that they weren't unsalted. They were less salted, but not unsalted. I took them to the shop in North Vancouver Marine Drive where I had bought them. There wasn't any customer service and the cashier referred me to the manager of the shop. He said that he can't refund the open ones and he needed the original receipts. I told him that I didn't have it as the purchase went Bach to a few weeks earlier. Then he tasted the chickpeas and totally ignored that they had salt. Then in front of all customers asked his own staff to taste them. One of them was brave enough to say that it had some salt, but the rest said what their boss dictated them. Instead of receiving an apology for their labeling or packing problem, he humiliated me in front of customers. I left the chickpeas and left the shop. They don't follow any food safety regulations and the labels don't follow the Canadian regulations. I'm going to report them for misconducting and also lack of proper...
