Cheese Man — Local services in North Vancouver

Cheese use to be good there, but twice in a raw I tried to buy some fourme d’Ambert, which is supposed to be a very sweet blue cheese, from France where I am from. The one that I bought there the last two times were extremely strong stronger than Roquefort stayed in your mouth for very long time… no doubt than the cheese is way past the due date (also not white anymore but kinda brown) I was even mor disappointed when I returned it and the guy said that the cheese is good it’s the way it’s supposed to be !!!!!!!! Yet factory sent it to him that way … obviously he don’t know this cheese ! It’s the one reason why it’s my favourite cheese for its sweetness ! Not my fault customer if the cheese have stayed in duty for weeks or any other reason. It’s unfair to make the clients pay for that. I won’t come back anymore to this shop and go to ‘les amis du fromage’ even if I have to do few extra kilometres at least the quality is...

People who appreciate a variety of fine cheeses usually avoid supermarkets and warehouse stores. Instead, they seek out specialty shops with a selection beyond the handful that are familiar to most people. Cheese Man is one of those places. Great cheese, and great advice about cheese, at a good price.

This place has its downsides. Cash only, no phones allowed (and 4 signs saying so in a 10'x15' shop!), and I had to wait in line for half an hour despite only having 2 people ahead of me when I got in, while he casually chatted with the others.

To a degree these "downsides" are also the flipside of the positives.. so I won't deduct any points for them, but it's hard to see what harm it would do to let people browse their phones while they wait in line...
