January 2025 - the resolutioners have begun! I utilize this facility as it's less than a block from where I live. Rarely have I been so impressed with a facility not because of the vast array of equipment but because of the staff. This business actually walks what they talk! Two of their core values are kindness and respect. As with almost all my reviews, it's the staff who make or break the customer service experience. I have to take my hat off to the YMCA staff here who model those values as I recently had an unfavorable experience with another member. The staff handled it professionally, with kindness and respect. I am confident they have earned a lifetime member as long as I reside in Edmonton. I've had my faith in good people restored! Great people! Great value! Great customer service! What's not to like. Highly recommend!

I have visited and worked out at YMCAs all over Western Canada. This morning I had one of the VERY BEST lane swimming and weight workouts of all time. The facilities are first class and MORE IMPORTANTLY the staff are unbelievable. They are happy, helpful, courteous and responsive! You cannot ask for a better environment for all ages. They even let me lock my bike up inside the facility.

This is a great place to workout, family friendly, with a wide selection of programs. They also offer a 3 visit pass to potential new members. The staff are pleasant and easy to speak with. I highly recommend Don Wheaton Family YMCA.

I've been at this gym for the past year, and then some when ever I visited Edmonton from England. I've been a member on and off since 2013. The staff at the reception and floor (Crystalle, Andy, Boris, Joe, Evin, Faith, AJ, Derrick, Claudia, Kate, Tim, Clement, Damien) have been absolutely helpful in welcoming me ever single day I arrive and with anything else I need.

The equipment is regularly cleaned. The are a plethora of group classes for a variety of age groups and skill level. I do not have any issues with the gym asides from that I wish to a see a pendulum squat apparatus installed, a fixed position chest supported t-bar row, a seated leg curl, a sled to push, and another smith machine. Your staff do an amazing job. The clients that come to the gym do vary and are from all walks of life. It's a good community feel. The STRIVE equipment, chains, available bands and basketball court are few of the many reasons why I joined the YMCA versus World Health in City Centre.

Anyone reading this review MUST know that the customer service at the Don Wheaton YMCA is phenomenal. The service FAR surpasses any other downtown gym in a 6km vicinity. Yes, it is a first come and first serve basis, but all that one has to do is plan ahead! Every member, for the most part, wipes down the equipment after their use (unlike at a certain other gym downtown...

Had the day off work and decided to go with my girlfriend to use the gym AND pool/hot tub. I purchased a day pass for the both of us. After our workout, we went to the lockers and changed into our swim wear and noticed an “under construction” sign on the entrance of the pool. I was upset and spoke to the reception and asked why would they not tell me that the pool was under construction BEFORE I bought the day pass because I have an active GOODLIFE membership. I can go to the gym and workout anytime I want, at a better gym and somewhere closer to where I live. I would not have paid 42 dollars plus 10 dollars parking to drive to the YMCA to use their gym. I explained I wanted to use the gym AND the pool. But as expected, customer service these days is just horrible and I was told because I used the gym, there is nothing they can do. Just robots, no empathy, no discretion, no common sense, no understanding or care. They justified this reason because it’s listed on their website that the pool is closed, and say there is a sign in the lobby. So i am SOL because I didn’t look on the website or notice the sign, because in their mind I am running some elaborate scam to try to use the gym for...

  • Update: The charges on my account were finally reversed, but not without much frustration on my end. *

I KEEP GETTING CHARGED! I purchased memberships for me and my daughter when it looked like the City of Edmonton rec facilities would go on strike. The next day, the strike was called off and I asked for my memberships to be cancelled. They would not refund the join fee ($26.25), but agreed to apply it as a credit to my account (e.g., for day passes). Not much use, but a nice gesture. Two months on, they have charged me THREE TIMES for monthly membership fees -- almost $260 -- and I haven't been to their facilities once. It's taken several emails and they have still only refunded me for one set of memberships. As I write, I am still trying to explain the error, but they have so far not issued refunds. I might have to dispute the charges with my credit card company at this stage. Such a stressful and frustrating experience, and terrible...
