I called to speak to a manager about my stay and no one returned my call. First thing I walk to go into the hotel lobby and a person is passed out in front of one of the doors. The doors are locked and I can't check in so I have to wave and look like a fool to get their attention to be let into the hotel. I guess their way of dealing with the passed out person was locking the doors and making your hotel guests wait out with them and feel super unsafe. Finally I got in and someone said they should call security. The lady checking people in ignored his 4 times till he said she doesn't look good. It took them 5 minutes before they finally called the mall security guard. The mall security kicked her out where she hung around your parking garage entrance. With the amount of times I felt so unsafe in your hotel I cannot believe there is no security at least in your lobby. The parking you suggest or provide is really confusing very poorly lit and little to no signage on some floors. Someone followed me and I felt I was going to be stabbed when she got in the elevator with me and was standing an inch a way from my face. She was no a hotel guest as when I used my key card she put her foot in the elevator door. I ran and cried as soon as the elevator door opened and got to the street. I had multiple panic attacks trying to get into your hotel from the parking garage. The room had scratches on the walls , no glass cups for a drink, no directory about the hotel, no notepad or pen, not one blanket for the pull out couch, rug was dirty. The room felt empty and dull and like it wasn't finished. The wallpaper was coming apart at the seams. I took photos of everything. I couldn't believe how dingy the room was. The bathroom was great and was the only stocked area. They say they are pet friendly but only had poop bags nothing else stated in the site. The hotel itself was just the most unorganized, confusing, stressful stay I've ever stayed in a hotel. I think being more personable and being more accommodating to your guests would go a long way. I Felt rushed through the check in process confused by any answers she had to my questions. No one feels approachable if you can find someone who isn't cleaning a room. The elevator needs better instructions. I can see the vision but having a nice building with no hospitality it pointless. I had better service at the restaurant on the 3 rd floor then anywhere in the hotel. Would not...
Read moreFirst I’d like to say I’m an avid Marriott guest, will choose Marriott over other hotels and was Platinum member pre-covid. So this comes as a sad yet much needed review. Our recent stay at the Marriott Downtown Edmonton was a rollercoaster of experiences that left us with mixed feelings. The hotel's front desk staff deserves accolades for their exemplary service — courteous, helpful, and genuinely friendly. The lobby and rooms were spotlessly clean, providing a comfortable atmosphere for guests. However, the thinness of the walls in our suite became an unexpected downside to an otherwise pleasant stay. We paid a premium price of $350 for the night, expecting a peaceful and restful experience. Unfortunately, we were rudely awakened by loud conversations in the neighboring room, a disturbance that persisted for a considerable duration. The thin walls even allowed us to eavesdrop on a phone call at the front desk, highlighting the lack of sound insulation. To our relief, the front desk staff addressed the noise issue promptly after our complaint. Nevertheless, the fact that we had to endure such disturbances at this price point left us quite disappointed. Our frustration escalated the next morning when we discovered that our car, parked in what was supposedly a monitored hotel parking area, had a smashed window, and valuables were stolen. The proximity to security cameras did not deter thieves, and the hotel's response, a mere 5000 points, felt like a token gesture given the insurance deductible and overall cost of the stay plus items stolen was over $2000. Upon our return the following day, we learned of yet another car break-in, emphasizing the need for heightened security measures in the parking area. The hotel's reassurance about increased vigilance was little comfort after our unfortunate experience. In conclusion, while the Marriott Downtown Edmonton offers a pleasant ambiance and courteous staff, the thin walls and security lapses in the parking area significantly detract from the overall guest experience. If staying at this Marriott, it might be wise to leave your car elsewhere and pack a set of earplugs. My advice. Stay elsewhere with better security, thicker walls and maybe longer drive so you’re not in the downtown core that has truly gone downhill over the years. Which is sad given this is a beautiful hotel - aside from more than...
Read moreI would have given a 2.5 out of 5 if I could why? Because I give it a 2, and my husband gives it a 3. Here is our experience : I will start with the good. The staff at Delta Edmonton Centre Suite are awesome very accommodating, polite, and friendly. They are very apologetic about the state of the hotel, and are honest about the short comings. The manager did comp. our parking so that was nice. They are quick to invite you back when the hotel will be finished upgrades by the end of 2016. The hotel its self is relatively clean, the rooms are definitely clean. Now that I am done with the highlights on to the not so good stuff. When we arrived we were informed that we would have to pay for over night parking so that was an unexpected expense. Next we entered the 1980's when we opened to our room. The spa tub was surrounded by dated looking marble tile, and mirrored walls. The furnishings were dated, the fixtures were also dated. The small tube style TV was located in a cupboard that you can only comfortably see from the left side of the bed, because of the doors on the cupboard. The coffee maker offers you a not so environmental friendly paper cup, and just one so I guess if you come as a couple like we did you have to share. The bathroom while clean was dark, and my husband found it hard to see well enough to shave in. The spa tub had obviously not been used in a while, because even with the water above the jets it sprayed the walls. The comp. Breakfast was okay except that the menu in the room is not the same as in the actual restaurant. Also my husband was served soured cream for his coffee. My French toast was made on the same grill as my husband's garlicky potatoes so that was kind of gross. In comparison; we recently stayed at the Radisson in Calgary paid the same for their spa room, and it contained a full body spray shower, heated floors, an air tub, two flat screen tv's one in the living area, and one in the bedroom. Two bathrooms, and is updated, well lit, and clean. For what is supposed to be a higher end hotel at $200+ a night, Delta and their "spa room" I would argue is NOT worth the price or the stay in its current condition.......
