Waaaay too expensive for literally anything, the public bathrooms NEVER are open or work, and its completely confusing to find your way around to this mysterious "open public washroom across the pedway." Don't waste your time for real just watch the youtube video of the event afterwards honestly cause NOBODY got money for that and they keep all the restrooms closed. Not to mention all the zombie-looking ass drug addicts hunched over on every corner. When the Katz group made Boyle a huge donation for demolishing their building, they had the celebration dinner and everything for the media views, all before they signed any contract and then they BACKED OUT, after the fancy dinner where they were praised for their generosity and support. Literally the Katz group caused that area to be SO much worse taking away a VERY MUCH NEEDED resource to help people get back on their feet. Did any of you know that blue building wasn't just a homeless hangout hub?! It was a bank for thousands of people. Thousands of people used to get very much needed basic human necessities, and help getting support needed to stay alive there and so much more. By demolishing the blue Boyle street building and refusing to pay the promised donation they literally displaced so many hundred of people and took away so many resources that so many people relied on. and all for what? They said a parking lot yet its still sitting as a fenced up empty lot. It was to displace the homeless population so they were out of sight out of mind for the people they deem 'desirables' so they can enjoy spending money on way overpriced tickets to go to a overhyped event, or a rip off of a casino, and not feel bad wasting hundreds of probably thousands of dollars per visit to Rogers place without having to see the homeless pandemic with their own eyes so they can spend all that money and not feel guilty seeing all those people who a simple dollar would change their week never mind the $30 youre spending on a soda inside there. I think its ironic and super funny that their little backstabbing plan there failed and now downtown is a lot more unsafe and a lot worse in that area particular. I wouldnt recommend bringing your children to this venue, or anyone with no real life experience of what its like to be at rock bottom. If you dont have street smarts this isn't a place you want to visit. And serves the Katz group right for...
Read moreMy first time here to watch the first PWHL game in Edmonton!! We paid for parking indoors with our tickets. That was a really good $20 spent as it was very cold outside. You go from parking onto an elevator or up the stairs and into the venue without having to go outside!!! Inside was amazing. Spacious to walk even though the game was sold out. Lots of places to buy food or drink without huge line ups. Lots of washrooms. The seating is super comfortable. Its a beautiful facility. Food and drinks are ridiculously expensive though so thats one negative. And finding your vehicle after the game is challenging if you have never been there before as only one set of stairs leads to the parking and there are multiple sections in the parking garage as it is huge and finding your area is a crap shoot as there are no signs or letters or markings of any kind to help you. Thankfully we were able to eventually find the entrance we came in and then from there found our vehicle. Im sure they could mark sections with colors or letters and have signs as to how to get there from where you are. Also when we got out of the rink trying to turn left onto a road is dangerous and time consuming as there is only a stop sign and no lights?? You need some lights at the intersections from the arena roads onto the main roads. I could not even believe there were no lights at any intersection from the rink to get out. Such a nice facillity with awesome parking and then you are stuck trying to get out of there when all they need is a set of lights. So be ready when exiting, if you are turning right someone will let you merge in. If you are turning left, someone will eventually let you cross over to turn but cars are coming from the other direction that you cant see and they cant see you....
Read moreI felt safe, comfortable and welcome. The staff was professional and I even enjoyed the soundtrack they were playing. My only complaint is the casino. They had a choice to avoid the ugly marriage between a pre existing homeless district and a habitual enterprise such as gambling. They missed an opportunity to put in a fitness center with an indoor track, allowing fans to mingle with Oil Kings players while they workout. Maybe the odd Oiler will do half an hour on the treadmill. It's worked out great for Commonwealth Stadium, workout on a week day and you'll probably bump into a few Eskimos. Gambling isn't a huge draw right next to two major colleges, two highschools and more than a few elementary schools. The international airport is what's good, that's the new Edmonton strip. West Ed is looking dated and ready for an overhaul, I drove past the other day and the pedestrian bridge was ripped apart, just sitting there severed and exposed, it was ugly. People thirst for cohabitation with achievers, dreamers and overall winners at life who exist on an even keel. Each adding a neccessary component with equal and ample opportunity to achieve their goals. I would also like to point out that a lot of hard working Edmontonians save their sin change for a trip to Mexico or Vegas and college students have a slim budget as it is. Show up on any given game night and you'll see countless young families walking in, the atmosphere has really...
